Pay rate
Question:
I have been informed that Schnider pays a minimum of 500.00 per week is this true? Money is not my main modivation for getting into this business but because of the money I would be leaving I was wondering if any other Schnider drive could tell me what is an average that an inexperienced driver would make realistcally within the first year of employment. Yes i am getting into this business because I feel I would like it and being out on the road most of the time would be very enjoable to me. But money is a big factor also. Please only people wanting to help respond.
thank you

Answer:
You might want to go to pumpkindriver.com and asking this question too. It is a web site of and for SNI drivers.
In general though you can expect something like 2000-2500 miles per week pulling a van. Some weeks may be more than that, and others less, but your weekly average over the course of 6 months to a year shoudl fall somewhere in there. To figure out how much you would gross just take your expected pay rate and do the math.

Answer:

That's good, because the money in most segments of this business is garbage.

You and most other drivers, which is why the pay sucks. Most drivers would do their jobs for nothing just because they like it so much. And with the way things are going, soon they will be.
Answer:
Realistically speaking, if i had joined the pumpkin in january then i'd gross right around 30-32k. The miles are decent form, but then again i'm on the eastern seaboard where the frieght is good. If you are considering coming to schnider then definitely read rafting bears journal that someone else gave a link too and then come and join us at pumpikdriver.com and read and pay attention. This company in all honesty, is a good training company but it is very militaristic in its structered and micromanagement aspects. One thing to keep in mind about any trucking job is other than the color of the trucks, its pretty much all the same(i.e. all companies have good lanes and bad lanes, good and bad dispatchers(our weekend and after hours dispatchers are clueless as to what first shift told us and what we go through out here) all companies have good equipetment and shoddy equiptment). If you do choose schnider, then most likely your first solos truck will be a coe, its a rough ride but it does help in tight situations. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me, or just pop over to the pumpkindriver site and ask away.
