I'm from NH but am living in Georgia now.. (sort of got out of the military and stayed down here near Savannah.. Good Ole 3rd. I.D. , Ft. Stewart, Ga.)
Sure wish I was "home".. sort of miss it , Just don't miss the high cost of living and OMG the Houses!! they've doubled in the past few yrs..

granted it is absolutly beautifull here,as you said the cost of living is outrageous with low wages.
just last year my property value went up 300% with the taxes doubling...heaven help me when i get the sheetrock up
