How long have I been driving?
Question:
When a company advertises for 1+ years experience, what do you count driving? Can you include the time you stepped foot in training, the day you entered the hiring company's orientation, the day you were actually first hired, or the day you went solo? Answer: For the 1st two years of your career or so the time will be from the time you upgraded to the status of solo driver (got out of training). After 2 years it is from the time you actually started with your 1st company. Answer: All I know is theat alot of companies do not count military experience as time. Beelman did and took a shot on me.This is USAF 2T2 and I approve this message. Answer: Two companies I applied with gave me credit for school. OTR training and years of experience at the time I applied. Some count it and some dont Some companies now advertise one year of OTR experience or 6 months with school. A tank line down here gives you one year if you went to school. They want 2 years OTR or 1 year with school. So it deppends on the company and probably best to ask them. Answer: I went looking at 9 months and everywhere that I applied offered me a job, some advertised that they wanted at least two years.you define the moment or the moment defines you. Answer: It is normally 1 year verifiable OTR. Most will not even start looking into your back ground till you are in orientation. You can get into orientaion with 1 week experiance.202 N Main Street Summerfield Il 62289 TRUCK PARKING AVAILABLE! Answer: Actually Daytrader many have started doing the background checks before orientation. I sent one of the online apps to about 11 companies. Although I checked my criteria, what I would and would not accept, the below compamies ran my background first. A couple before they knew I would want to work there. The companies that ran my back ground first out of the apps I sent were JB Hunt, SMX, Shaffer (Crete), Mid Westcoast (Comcar) and Quality Carriers. Those are the only companies I talked with. A couple only to say no thanks. Maybe their changing their tatics. A couple of the above use to wait until you were in orientation. Answer: Be careful when doing this... Many recruiters will get paid their commision when you show up for orientation and then the Safety dept. will tell you that you do not qualify. Then you've wasted time and money for nothing.
