Swift Hiring a "Hazard Driver"
Question:
Just like the subject says. Swift and T/A are actually going to hire this guy that my sister knows personally. He started driving and within 6 months, he had a hit and run (his fault), he hit a deer, got a speeding ticket for going 20mph over and turned the truck over into a ditch. All within a 6 month period, it makes me wonder how on earth Swift and T/A can stay in business hiring "Hazard Drivers" like that.
I know WSE wouldn't hire a person with that kind of record. What are they thinking????? Someone ought to ram the big guys car, truck, house or office of those two companies and maybe they'd think twice.
That is why drivers have bad reputations. No wonder why we are belittled, sheesh.

sweet_whiskey,
You forgot the "You're not going to believe this, but" part that is necessary when telling a trucker BS story.
Let's put some truth into all this. What is the drivers name and what terminal is he running out of?
A hit and run mandates a lost of license for 1 year, minimum, per the FMCSA. I thought it was 3 years. Either way if what you say is true, he does not have a CDL
Speeding at 20 MPH is considered reckless driving and also causes a lost of license, in most states.
Why did he turned his truck over into a ditch. If he was hit head on and that is where the truck came to a rest, that is one thing. If he fell asleep, that is another thing altogether. Swift will generally terminate a driver for rolling over a truck.
You listed two items that would cause the driver to loose his license and a third that would result in termination, yet the driver is still employed. It doesn't add up.
I don't see how a driver could work for a OTR company and a truck stop at the same time, doesn't make sense.
The worst thing about the trucking industry is all the bullsh!t that is spread around by the drivers. That does more harm to us than all the wreckless and stupid drivers out there combined. And what's worst, all this BS is spread by the drivers!

Answer:
Swift has been for many years hiring "hazard" drivers.
I do not know if they still do, but they used to be one of the only places that would hire a person with a recent DUI.
You can lose you lic. It is very easy to get a CDL back. Just Go to a dif state and take the test. When they ASK you if you ever lose you r lic ytou say no.
Three years ago that guy that killed the girl was in one of the trucker mags.
He had like 3 DUi's and some drug charges. A warrent and a bunch of stuff.
No one would hire him so he bought his own truck.
He is now in prison, but look how long it took to get him.
Many asked how could he get a CDL back. Easy. He lied!202 N Main Street

By T/A I think he is implying Transport America not the TA truck Stop but who knows, heck at Swift this guy ought to fit right in just dont kill anyone

Answer:
Fortunately being able to get a lisc in a different state when your current one has been revoked or about too, or having several liscenes will soon be a thing of the past as the feds have mandated that all states adopt and implement a system to cross check a persons record in every state.
Answer:

Oh Transport America. Hired on by two large carriers, I don't think so.
...you're not going to believe this...

Answer:
Driver J,
I believe my sister and my sisters bestfriend (also was married to the idiot who with the cdl). I am sure it will catch up with him eventually. I do know that after the hit and run he was told specifically to pack up and call someone to come and get him in Illinois. That is where the accident happened.
So either the state of Kansas never placed it on his record or he's leading a different life.
Anything is bound to happen anymore. All I know is that the system is totally screwed if they don't catch him.

I think you should get all the facts first.Do you honestly think they would be allowed to hire someone that has a hit and run ?
LOL...................... He started driving and within 6 months, he had a hit and run (his fault), he hit a deer, got a speeding ticket for going 20mph over and turned the truck over into a ditch. All within a 6 month period....................You should'nt believe everything you hear .

Answer:
Well I know it sounds crazy as heck. Who knows...they hire people with recent dui's, dwi's, felony convictions what difference would it make?
I know I shouldn't have said anything, unless it came from the horses mouth. I figured his exwife was closest to a horse then the real deal.

Answer:
it's simple, it wasn't his fault. just ak him.
Unfortuantly companies like Swift and the other big training companies hire drivers like that all the time. Many keep drivers that have one incident after another. It doesn't make sense except they dont have to pay them as much and the driver doesn't dare quit.

Answer:
Here we go again.
Swift this and Swift that. I drive for Swift and I know several others that frequent this forum do to.
I'm sick and tired of this crap about what Swift does and doesn't do. Why don't you dwellers that drive a computer come on out and play with the big boys.
Why ?? Cause most of you pukes don't have the guts or what it takes to drive for anyone over the road.
If you don't like what I've just said, too bad.
Back up all your crap with cold hard facts, and things that can be checked or else just shut the h$%l up.
I count alot of good decent Swift employees as my friends.
So all you gutless wonders, right now, call or email all TWO of your dweller buddies and get together and cry and whine about the trucking industry which most of you pukes no nothing about.
Come on, let me have it, you brain-dead morons.

Answer:
Ummm, you drive for Swift. You are not one of the big boys.

Answer:
I will not appologize, nor should I have to. I was posting what I thought was very very wrong. I know some Swift drivers and no they are not all bad drivers.
In fact, my great friend in Vegas hired a Swift driver to drive his belly dump local. He mentioned that he is a excellent driver and that he wouldn't trust anyone else to drive his truck. Especially to do dirt work like they do.
So don't think I was bagging on all Swift drivers. It wasn't Swift drivers, it was the COMPANY itself. I don't believe I said anything about Swift drivers being bad drivers.
Or did I???
Don't badger me because I am speaking my mind. I do appreciate your comments, but don't belittle me.

Come on you dwellers, you can do better than this nobody.
