filling out apps
Question:
i have started to fill out apps i plan to fill out about five (5) i all ready have a pre-hire from usa but have been told some not so good stuff about them is five to many or not.

Answer:
Before you fill out apps decide which Carrier meets YOUR
criteria. Prehire and $2.00 will get you a cup of Starbucks.
All prehire means is that you MAY be acceptible for employment.
Put every carrier you think you may want to work for through
the search feature here, lots of opinions on the good and bad.
Research, research and more research is the key leading to
a successfull experience.
Answer:
Five is not too many. It's good to have choices.
When I started, I made a list of the good and bad things for each company. Some companies got eliminated, most didn't.
Then I took their pay scales and compared them for a year. (Realistically, if you've never driven OTR before, you are going to hate the first company you drive for because the reality of OTR will not meet up to your expectations as to how it should work.) A year with your first OTR company is reasonable for comparison purposes. Use two years at the outside, for economic comparison.
Make a chart and compare the cost/reimbursement of school, pay scale (use maybe 2500 miles per week for comparison) for milage as well as ancillary pay as well as training pay from the day you start. List insurance cost - just you or the family too. Make sure you keep it equal - if one company offers something that another doesn't - say stopoff pay - then be sure to include it in the comparison. Be realistic on the numbers.

Answer:
I do not think 5 is too many.
Heck, one time I filled out about 14 of them.(none of them were done over the internet)
This time around i plan on filling out about 10-12 apps.(I plan on going back OTR in Sept., AFTER I attend G.A.T.S.)

Answer:
There is no such thing as too many. I filled out 14 apps when I wa in school.
Research the compaines you think you would like to work for. If after your research they are still a possibility then apply to them.
Rank those companies that you have applied to. Which is your first choice, 2nd, etc. Then as you wait to hear back continue to research them, and revise as needed. Then go with the company that offers you a job that is highest up on your list.
Then within 1 week of school being over you should be on your way.
