DOT foods Inc.
Question:
just wondering has anyone ever driven for this company

Answer:
Well apparently some people DO drive for them.
You need 2 years experience... so they say.

Answer:
I'm curious. Why are you asking here when they are based in
your hometown?
Answer:
hey RABALEM, I was asking on here because if I ask where I live I would kind of get a biased opinion, and no you don't have to have 2 years in before hand. I have a job offer from them, and was just curious as to how someone might feel about the company when they can state it anonomously.

Answer:
Makes sense now. Actually I did look at their website,
looks like a labor intensive operation as far as Driving goes.
I got the impression there would be alot of Driver unloading involved
with stores. Your "hometime"would be good,I'd guess. The lowering of qualifications is sign it may not be an ideal job or a sign they're just having
a hard time finding experienced Drivers.
Answer:
They are in serious need of drivers according to a friend of mine who works in dispatch there .He claims its a great company to work for great benefits ect !!!
Answer:

Oh okay, you seem to know all about them already anyways.
Any of their ads I have seen ALWAYS suggest 2 years/200,000 miles experience required. What they actually settle for might be something less... as is usually the case with these job ads, they usually post the qualifications of the ideal candidate.

Answer:
Tsk Tsk... not nice to create online sock puppets...

posted May 23, 2004 10:34 PM Several months back I filled an application out with Schneider and was turned down... Then considered Us Express but have decided after getting thru with the local school to go with a company closer to home that takes graduates from the local school. Its called Dot Foods I was wondering if anyone has ever heard any good or bad about this company they advertise home 2 to 2.5 days per week however they don't advertise a pay scale. I was just wondering before I call them if anyone has any goods or bads about the company.
thanks alot"
You also post there as "rossnem".
So what are your sock puppet names on TruckNet?

Answer:

The very last line says "Minimum of two years city driving experience or 200,000 mile over-the-road experience [/b]strongly preferred.
I got that from their web site. It means they'd "rather" have someone with some decent experience but they are not apposed to giving others a shot.
Paul; why are you being so hard on this guy? He's just trying to get some information---just like anyone else. So what if he is a member on another site, he came here for some input---give it to him constructively or shut up.
It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves.

Hi rossnem:
Just wanted to say that I too have been considering Dot transportation. They seem like a Family friendly company. Pay per mile is a little low but all in all it seems to equal out. I am fresh from driving school (LLCC) and this did not seem to be a problem with them. The only issue we have right now is the fact that I can not begin work untill 1 Aug. I know that I have not answered any of your questions but you are not alone in wanting to know more about the company. Good Luck and I hope to meet you soon.

Answer:

Aw shucks, you sound real cranky... are you REAL sure you don't miss truckin'? Maybe just a teensy weensy bit?
I think you forgot to read where I said:

and...

He is getting his chops busted for having a sock puppet, not for tryna make a living or obtain info about the company in question.

Answer:
Heck, I did'nt take Paul's comments badly, I asked for comments, I got them. I know what their qualifications are, I just want to know what it might be like for someone who might have had experience with them or people that they might know of who has, and generally all input is appreciated, although I'm not shure about that sock puppet comment.
Peace!
Answer:
Sorry Paul; guess I don't understand the sock puppet thing either.
If you are reffering to something such as multiple screen names...I don't see where this particular post would make you suspicious of that. It's a common question here.
As far as you doing your detective investigative work and hunting one poster down on more than one site---if you're looking for a congradulations on your inteligence well; congradulations...you know how to surf the web.

I'm not cranky...I'm pretty content with life at the moment. And, I don't miss any thing about trucking yet. I've only been off the road for a month and a half; I no longer need my Prilosec (for acid reflux), and I have lost more than 15 lbs. since I ain't got that bag of chips on the dash all day.
To add to the post I'll say this: I have seen DOT Foods trucks in every area of the country. So you would have versitility should you choose them. I know for a fact they run to San Fransisco via I-80 through Reno on a regular basis because I used to run that route steady for a while and there was a steady stream of DOT trucks. If you like that area of the country and or like long haul---they are worth a look. It's apparent this place is never going to change....then again; why should it? It gets the clientel it deserves.

Answer:
They also have regular drops at a food warehouse in St Cloud, Mn. I see 3-4 trucks there every week.

Paul whats wrong with posting a question to more than one forum, is it bad form to be on pumpkindriver also. Is there a problem with having more than one source of info? If so let me know, nonetheless, you are intitled to your own opinion.
