Question:
Starting School in Mineral Wells TX. Monday with all the appropriate jitters. School is three weeks, then go directly to Terminal in OK City for 3 days orientation and Co. trainer assignment, then off to teaming for as long as I can stand it. Mostly concerned with getting through school and learning all I can there. Thanks to the many years of combined experience shared by those of you here at T/N and the many hours spent reading the posts here I feel that will go off to school much better armed. (not sure how I will handle the withdrawal symptoms connected with going "cold turkey" from the forum)
On the way back to Tulsa last night from Fort Sill after attending my sons graduation from basic training, I stopped for coffee at the Flying J in OK. City. (was about 1:am) and with the exception of a lone slot, the lot was full and it looked like all were turned in for the night. (decent coffee though)
I noticed that just a couple of trucks were pulled in (as opposed to backed in) the slots. Is there a reason for this? Just curious... (never paid attention to this before)

Thanks and good luck to you as well. I have pretty high expectation for training. Supposed to be a decent school. Will try the teaming thing as long as I can stand it. Hope I can take it for a year. Trying to get mentally prepared for that aspect of this adventure.
Thanks for the best wishes for my son... Went to boot camp 8 weeks ago and came out with alot of positive change. Was proud of him before but now I am very happy for him.. Had the first conversation with him yesterday (ever) that I really got the feeling that he's growing up. (kids) Now if just maybe I can do the same thing lol...... Thoght about doing this a few time while married and kids were at home but my better jugdment told me it wasn't a good idea. From what I have seen here over the past month or so was a good decision. But now......is a different story. Kids are grown and on their own, wife took off a couple of year ago and have discovered why divorce is so painful and expensive....BECAUSE ITS WORTH IT!!!!

The ones that do this will say it is because they don't have to listen to the noise of the idling tractor (or reefer) next to them.
Others will say it is because they can't back into a hole
School is what you make of it <g> but mostly all they will teach you is how to pass the CDL (which is when the real learning just begins).
Curious as to why you are planning on running as a team right out of the gate... I daresay most drivers would prefer to run solo.

that splains it I was wondering if it had to do with truck noise.or privacy.... Not running teams for any particular reason except that CRST has a terminal fairly close and they run alot of dedicated freight. Didn't really hire on for the team thing but thought I'd give it a try for awhile. Can always move someplace else if it becomes unbearable. We'll see....Have heard por's and cons to driving team but all in all teams seem to get a few more miles... who knows?

I'm curious as to why you chose to go to school in Mineral Wells, when an excellent school is only 40 miles down the road from you?
