Making the truck more secure at night.
Question:
Securing the truck at night so that you can be safe is a subject worthy of note and importance regardless is you are a man or a woman. This subject has been talked about from time to time in the Professional Woman's forum and I feel that it is important enough to bring it over here as well. Some of the tips offered are: 1. Some advise for women to never park for the night at the same truckstop they fuel, eat and shower at. 2. Get a few items of mens clothing, such as shirts, a jacket in the winter, and even some cheap sunglasses, to throw up in the front and on the dash when you do shut down. Make someone wonder if just maybe there might not be a 6'5" bear of a man asleep back there with you. 3. Never tell anyone that you are a solo woman driver in a place where others might overhear you. 4. Take a ratchet strap and use it to tie the drivers and passenger side doors together. 5. Always be sure your vent windows are locked, and that your windows are rolled up tight. Also be sure your doors are locked. 6. If your company will allow it get yourself the biggest dog you can live with on the road. If possible get it from a pup so you can train it from the get go to be a truck dog and so that it will be 110% loyal to you. Even a small dog can warn you if someone is messing around the truck or trying to get in. 7. If you have one of those little door windows modify it so that you either have something like plexi glass, or sheet metal anchored to the inside in such a way that it can not be removed from the outside of the truck. On some trucks this can be easily done by simply lossening the inner trim screws around the window and cutting a piece of metal or the plexiglass to slide in between the door and trim. Mekidd also posted some good advice on this subject. Here are links to the posts over in the other forum. Womans Forum Topic 1 Topic that started it all Answer: Good tips U-Turn, but on the dog part ........ Ever seen a little yapping SOB that would drive you nuts Those ankle biters are usually good for making noise. The big ones are not necessarily good watch dogs, a lot are just littleTeddy Bears. Answer: Tell that to the Nebraska State Trooper that tried to stick his head in the passenger window of my truck one day almost a year and a half ago. My 80 lb. Black Lab was like a shark with legs. All teeth and a lot of barking & growling. (Good Doggie!) I honestly had a hard time holding my dog back. Answer: It all really depnds on the dog. A lot of dogs, regardless of size or breed, when raised from a pup will regard its surroundings as its home, and dogs tend to be very protective of its home. Even if the dog turns out to hardly know a stranger the larger breeds tend to give people pause and rethink any evil desires they may have. Answer: Leave all the interior lights on when your away from the truck, thieves hate light. I light up the inside of my truck, have for years. It also helps keep the lot lizards away from your truck. They hate lighted areas too!! How do I know this!!! I'm not going to tell long stories or write a book, I don't have the damn time!! Buy or make a windshield curtain if your truck doesn't have one. Everything "out of sight, is out of mind" The windshield curtain gives you additional privacy beyond the sleeper compartment area. Helps keep the truck cooler in the summer, helps to block much of the suns heat coming through the windows. Answer: Tends to weaken their negotiating position... ____________________________ Remote from Osseo, WI Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
