Finished my first 100 hours BTW
Question:
Hi folks. Just wanted to say I've finished my first 100 hours behind the wheel and now my trainer and I are going to drive team. We're picking up a load tomorrow and taking it cross country from Atlanta.
About three days ago, I got stopped be a Louisiana bear who accused me of 76 mph in a 70 zone. I told him Sir, I don't see how that was possible since it was a company truck and governed at 67. He issued me a long-form stating I was speeding and told me it wouldn't go on my driving record. I don't know, but I think he just read his radar unit backward, interpreting a 67 reading as a 76. What y'all think?
My truck won't go over 67, no way, without a downgrade of which there wasn't one.

Answer:
This is quite common. Cops will often make things up to save face or make quota. Expect them to lie to you.......Avoid completely, if at all possible.

Answer:

Beatnik, you better get with a legal beagle such as PrePaid Legal and fight that ticket now, not later....do not let it ride or you may not get another 100 hours in the truck. It is your CDL... not the cops. ''

Answer:
Almost in all states it is illegal to have a monthly ticket quota for a pd, but many departments have so called contests/competitions (I know cuz my friend is a cop they love to bust up trucks) the winner gets dinner/gift certificate etc. so watch out, and by law the cop must have the radar reading recorded (at least in Cali, I Know from personal experience)if you would want to take it to traffic court he/she would have to provide substantial evidence.

Answer:

So? Doesn't help much if you’re the one standing alongside the highway getting a summons, now does it? Ever try arguing the cop was trying to get his quota while fighting a traffic citation?
