that the industry is the way it is that forces a driver to have to apply the CYA principle 29 hours a day, 8 days a week, 400 days a year, but lets face it. Thats trucking. Get used to it.
If you want to think of it in a somewhat lighter note then try this:
It is like a game of musical chairs. When the music stops everyone grabs a chair. The only problems for you driver is that no one tells you the music has stopped and besides everyone else never left their seat from the last time. So be sure to carry a chair with you.

I have a hands free cell phone mount w/ external speaker & microphone. I also have a "Dispatch Buster" micro cassette tape recorder ($20-$40 at any truckstop). I also carry extra tapes just in case I need to save a conversation.
I also use the tape recorder to make note of mileage when I cross state lines, dumbass truck drivers that can't drive, etc.......
