Hey unka D
Question:
Do you haul flats or Vans for ROEHL. Amd where did you go to school. In marshfield or another terminal. If you came up to WI how did they go about hiring you or did they just drive you up here school you and then hire you or what Answer: Hi Bob, No, I didn't go through the Roehl School. I trained at a CDL mill in Texas and then went through the recruiter process. Roehl rented a car to get me to Marshfield for the orientation. Once there, I went through their Phase I and phase II training. I've been out on my own pulling vans now for just over two weeks. So far, the miles are good but I know they are going to get better as I learn to manage my time. Home time has worked well since I live in the Dallas area and we have a lot of frieght coming through the area. As with everything else, it's a learning process. Learning to use optilink as a tool is a challenge, but I now take 15 to 30 minutes after I get a dispatch to check the route, verify the roads and make sure I know exactly where I'm supposed to go. The system routes you straight-line as much as interstate but some of the roads you are routed over - You just have to call the FM and tell them to change the route if you know an 85 mile stretch is going to take you three hours. It's a learning curve process. Other than that, they appear to be a good company , for me, to start with. I may stay with them long term or not, it just depends on where I feel comfortable in a year or three. Good luck in your decision!!! Unka_D - Truck #2911I ride for those who can't!
