Truck Co. that let you bring the truck home
Question:
Im looking at trucking companies and I was wondering what companies let you bring the truck home for your home time. Im most interested in companes that hire drivers from the Twin cities. Answer: All the companies I ever drove for as a company driver let the drivers take the truck home..Some did ask for proof that you had a place to park it.. Some will also want you to have a secure place for dropping the trailer if you don't have room at your home Answer: A friend of mine used to drive for Transport America. He was able to bring the truck home for the duration of his home time. He lives down near me though......100 miles from TA's terminal. Don't know if that had anything to do with that or not. There's a Schneider driver that lives in Good Thunder. I see his truck parked in town about every three weeks. Answer: Most of the OTR carriers let you take the truck home with you for hometime unless you are going to be off for a long period of time. Some companies do like for the truck to be left at a terminal if you live close enough (25-50 miles away). A few companies also require that the truck and trailer either be parked on your property or in a secured location during home time. Answer: 007 you might check to see if the nice folk's on your street are going to like that big truck parked on there street ?? also some city street's are weight resricted down as far as 5 ton's and I have been asked by the police more than once to move to a truckstop or else !! I have also had my dispatcher call in the middle of the night to tell me that my reefer was running and keeping the whole block awake and had to get up get in it and move it to the TS about 15 mile's away Answer: 007 you might check to see if the nice folk's on your street are going to like that big truck parked on there street ?? also some city street's are weight resricted down as far as 5 ton's and I have been asked by the police more than once to move to a truckstop or else !! If it is a must for you I would make that a question to ask the recruiters of the companies you would like to work for. Because some do and some don't let you take it home.
