Long Hauls?
Question:
I am currently driving for a very small company that had 3 trucks, but the owner totaled one so now we are down to 2 for five drivers. Me being the new guy my runs have diminished to 3 or four days, my question is are there companies that have dedicated runs from the midwest to Az. and how difficult would it be to get on with them with only two years driving experience of local not otr. Answer: there's a fair ammount of arizona going to midwest, I know that cheese comes out of tempe,az, usually goes to missouri though, ......schreiber cheese, that's who the shipper is! I don't know if they ship to wisconsin though, wouldn't be surprised though, sorry, don't know any good companies that do that though. If at first you don't suceed, get a bigger hammer Answer: There's a lot of big companies with terminals or headquarters in Phoenix -- Werner, Swift, Knight... and lots of smaller ones too. It's a good hub for southwest-midwest traffic. You may not find a 'dedicated' run right away, but I bet you can find lots of opportunities to drive the southwest and midwest almost exclusively if you look for companys in Phoenix. Doesn't mean you have to move there - just go there to hire on, etc. As for your experience, they might want to add a little training onto your local experience. Gotta get on the phone with every 800# for an Arizone trucking company you can find -- again, I'd focus on Phoenix. That would be a good start, and they'll let you know if you're experience qualified, etc. Answer: Try IWX, Indiana Western Express, they run from Indy, to Kingman AZ,look pretty good as far as pay goes.
