D.O.T Scales
Question:
Did I ever have the ride of my life last monday. I was running east bound on I 90-39 thru Wisconsin. We where coming up on the east bound scale. Sign said open so we all got into postion to go in. I noticed right away the scale was full. i was passed by a flatbed shortly before the scale. He was a head of me already heading in but I noticed both he and I would be stuck out on the interstate. i saw the sign change to closed I yelled hit flatbed it closed he pulled out hes empty by the way but just as he goes to pull out so does the three trucks ahead of him. He is forced into the hammer lane. I looked into the mirror to see the rest of the traffic behind us coming up fast. I didnt really know the outcome of this but it wasnt good at first sight. The three trucks that pulled back on the intersate where stopped or barely rolling. I was still going good so was the flatbed. He powered on by but I was left to try to avoid hitting one of the trucks and not get rear ended. A few cars went to the median none went to far in allot of dust flew I satyed in the slow lane two of the trucks pulled to the shoulder so we can pass by. Im telling you that its Saturday afternoon and Im still trying to pull the seat from my A$$. I am glad no one got hit ot hurt. the State boys never came out it was really bad situation. Went one from one end of scale to teh other with trucks returning to the interstate on the otherside.

I wish I would of hit view button and not submit. Sorry about the errors in this post

Answer:

What a moron. I would bet thatthis wasn't this guys first time on this road, he knew that the scale was coming up, and yet he just has to pass you. Nice 4-wheeler-like driving there...

More morons. If you are stopped on the ramp, you are supposed to go in. If there is traffic behind, you, you don't friggin pull out from a dead stop on the interstate. And I bet these morons think they are professionals...

Apparently you were the only one to think of looking in your mirrors...

My God, there are actually some drivers who have more than the intelligence of a Tse-Tse fly!!

Sounds like the scaleman was already busy weighing trucks...I'd have called the State patrol anyway, if for no other reason than for there to be a record of this crap...

I wonder how many so called professional drivers here are going to blame the scalemaster for this? I am betting alot will...
Answer:
Actually the radio remained quiet. Very few comments. As for the flatbed I believe he was alright passing me cause he did have egough room to get around me and slow down. Not saying he was right. the scale house had about five cars by it ready to go if they had to. It was a warm winter day Im sure they where busy writing tickets.

Answer:
AYYYYY CARUMBA
If your already in the deceleration lane....STAY THERE........if the trucks stopping at the scale are out in the road.......BYPASS IT!!!! It is not hard folks!!
Good driving on your part Bob Hopper

CDrecovering dweller..........oilfield trash division

Answer:
I for one bypass the scales if the ramp is full, whether or not it is open or not. There's no damned way I'm going to stop on the roadway to wait for some inept scale man. There are an amazing number of drivers that never use their mirrors. Just remember:If the world did'nt suck, you'd fall off!
The more I see and read about Republicans and Democrats, the more I wish we had an Independent Party.
IMPEACH BUSH!!!!!!!!!!

Answer:
What ever happened to the concept of speed and space management???????
Do u actually know what defensive driving is?????????
There is only so many times you can put a loaded gun to your head before you hit the lucky chamber.
Catch you on the flip!

Answer:
Ok, I had a scenario typical of this. It was not at a scalehouse, but had the same problems.
I was traveling south on 95 in FLA and I was the lead vehicle in a group of four of us going to West Palm Beach. I notice a convoy of Hummers and etc on the side of the highway ahead. All just sitting there. No problem...right. WRONG!!
Just as I got within 50 yds of the group, the last vehicle in line pulled out in the slow lane and stopped ....just so the rest of the group could pull out and get moving
I anchored the brakes for all it was worth and yelled on the CB to friends behind to make room and watch out. I was unable to change lanes due to traffic. I got stopped just as the group starting to move. That 19yr old MORON driver in the last Hummer did not realize he and the others in the truck had just about LOST their lives. We did finally get pasted them...and the urge to run the last car off the road and stop to show him what he just caused was a strong feeling. I refrained and we continue on for an un-eventful trip.
It just boggles the mind.....what was this fool thinking???

Answer:
Mack...there in lies the problem!
People don't think!
I am sure the person in the Hummer was just trying to be helpful, and didn't realize he was rolling the dice with his life!
I77 north out of Charlotte two days ago. Two Darwin candidates playing chicken with each other in heavy traffic. Apparently one cut the other off and they had a little road rage thing going full throttle. Guy in the yellow SUV slamms on his brakes right next to me, and the other imbecil hits his, and starts sliding sideways toward the center of my trailer.
I grabbed the mic, and warned the others ahead, (especially the two fuel tankers) and just let 'em go on ahead of me.
Today at around 0830 west on I40 VA in a steady rain. I am traveling at about 64 mph, and see the lights of another truck probably half a mile behind me. Seconds later he went by me like I was on jacks sipping a Pepsi. He had to be tapping 90 easily.....
It's not always the four wheelers!
