Update on our move, a thanks and my plans starting next mont
Question:
We moved from Alabama to Missouri (Retired Army) and know I'm working on things around the house until I go to school. Wife already found a job so with her pay check, my retirement check and my Trucking check we will be doing ok. I would like to thank everyone for all the advice over the past year on this fourm, it has been a big help to me and I have learned alot. Who will I be driving for? Well I had planned on going through the WIA to fund my school here in Missouri but I had to come up with 1200.00 cash to help out. Roehl told me I needed 450.00 first day plus bus fare and 4 weeks worth of food which would be around 850.00. SNI = 1 year contract, they will pick me up in ST Louis, train me, drop me back off in ST louis. Cost is only me time. So I will be driving for SNI. Again thanks for all the advice. I'll update my training every once in a while throughout the next 12 months incase any one is interested. Answer: Good luck. I too was going to go the SNI route. All was well until they sent me that contract to sign. Make sure you read it all, including the fine print. There were a few issues with it that I had serious problems with. That was when I went through the WIA program where they paid half of the tuition. As far as to compare the inital training, IMHO I think Roehl would be better. It is longer, and you get more wheel time. During the weekends you can go and run the range and practice backign manuevers etc. But in all honesty, you will find it is just like the military. You go to school to learn the basics. When you get sent out to the fleet, the first thing you do is throw what you learned at school out the window and learn how it is really done. Well this is an extreme, you wont throw out everything, but there is a big difference between book, and real world. Your real learning will begin with your time with a trainer. Then the fun starts when you are out on your own, you learn real quick, or go broke trying. Answer: You mean to infer that the "Roehl Way" isn'nt the real world????? You bet your A$$ it's not!!!!!!!!!! I got called on the carpet by safety for getting a ticket in TN. Also for logging off duty time at customer. I told them I unloaded the truck, then went to breakfast down the street. I was told I was supposed to log 15 min. to go down the street, THEN go off duty. Right....burn up more time. I'm beginning to think they stay up nights thinking up this crappola. Just remember:If the world did'nt suck, you'd fall off! The more I see and read about Republicans and Democrats, the more I wish we had an Independent Party. IMPEACH BUSH!!!!!!!!!! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
