How hard is it to pass the CDL driving test?
Question:
Im going on Tuesday to take the driving test for my Texas CDL. Anyone know how hard it is? Any tips on things i should study/do this weekend? Im renting a truck by the way to take the test..... Answer: 1. Know your pre trip procedure inside and out, frontwards and backwards. Make sure you know the proper names of the componants you are looking at. 2. Listen carefully to any and all instructions the examiner gives you. 3. Since you are providing the truck make sure that it has all its paperwork up to date. (Lisc/registration, fuel/tax permits, current annual DOT inspection, proof of insurance etc.) Be sure to check that it has all it required safety devices. If you are renting a trailer make sure it is up to date and in good condition also. Beyond that all I can tell you is that every state is a little different in what they test for. Also you did not indicate if you are testing for a Class A (tractor/trailer) or a Class B (straight truck). This can make a difference in what you will be tested on. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. Answer: do what uturn has mentioned and then-- On Tuesday morning, get up early and drive down to Waxahachie like I said in a previous post to you on another thread. DPS there is in a small white frame building and is shared space with a law office I believe. It is not very busy except for a few students from Tri-State Truck Driving school. Very low pressure, very easy range test that is all Interstate driving(approx;6 miles total),civilian examiners. Any other questions/e-mail me and I'll be happy to help. The Governor. Arguing with a truck driver is like wrestling with a pig in the mud;Sooner or later you figure out the pig enjoys it. Answer: and this may sound really stupid and common sense, but be sure to have a driver who is liscenced for the type of vehicle you are driving to the test range with you (unless it is being delivered there and picked up after testing just in case Murphy shows up). Had a case here not too long ago where someone was testing for his Class B CDL and rented a Class B type truck and drove it to the testing facility by himself and one of the first things asked was who drove the truck there. By the time it was all said and done the tester auto failed him, called the police and had him issued a ticket for not being liscened to drive that class of vehicle. Hmmm....Must have forgot to put President Grant in the passenger seat. Mike Answer: Also.....from what I know.... You can NOT drive a Comm. vehicle home after a PASSED test either. You are NOT legal to drive a CM until you have your actual picture on a license. You can not drive on your "passed" test papers. I rented a truck/trailer also, but from the test facility. So I just drove my pickup home(which you are still legal to drive) FYI Larry 1959 B Model Mack Answer: Up, Up, Up we go. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
