Internet on the Road?
Question:
I don't have a laptop, but I'll need internet access every once in a while. Are there truckstops or other places on the road where I can get it? Answer: Yes, Most Trkstps have Internet Kiosks. But, be forewarned that they can be a bit PRICEY. I've only used 1 ONCE(my laptop was in the shop) & after paying $7 for LESS than (1)ONE Hr I decided that I would NEVER do that again.(this was back when they first started putting them into trkstps.) I Don't know What the Price per Minute is nowadays. I suggest that the FIRST chance you get...you should SAVE & get a Laptop with Wi-Fi internet. Either Flying J's Wi-Fi service or Verizon's wireless service. If it's email you need... Some carriers offer "Cab-Mail", email service via the trk's Qualcomm system. I've Never gone that route, but from what I've been told...It can also be a bit PRICEY & really NOT worth the money. BE SAFE & HAPPY TRUCKING SMYLE! Just so I know I can get it when I need it. Answer: I'm waiting for the "gourmet cooking" thread to startup again. You newbies need to concentrate on the driving and learning this new job you've landed yourself into. Yes I know, you need to pass the time out on the road... but initially I'd suggest your time is better spent catching up on your sleep. Answer: those Kiosks charged 25 cpm and some of them start charging when it starts trying to connect....and they all seem to be dial up connection and slower than all get out. Wouldnt suprise me if they werent running 28k modems. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart. Answer: The job is the most important thing. I just happen to pay some bills online, and I wanna still be able to do that on the road. I don't expect all of home's comforts in a truck. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
