Question:
On other forums it is polite to post an introduction when you join - couldn't see any rules here but I thought it best to play safe Hello! I'm 23, female and live in the UK. I've worked as a driver's mate for over a year, have my fork lift licence and hope to get my class 2 in the coming year. Both my parents are truckers but I haven't told my dad about my career plans yet because he'd throw a hissy fit He wants me to get a 'nice, safe office job' and earn lots of money. Hmm-mm. And die of boredom within a month no doubt. Its his fault anyway - he used to take me with him on some of his shorter overnights and I got a taste for it. Add a love of driving, a profound hatred for the indoors and routines, and well, what do you expect? Scouting round for suitable jobs at the moment. Thought about going with an agency for a while to get some experience. Nice to meet you all anyway. Answer: Welcome to T/N I to am a female and the age is 40+ I have been a driver since I was 18 and I blame my granfathers and brothers. I can't blame my father he tried to talk me out of it..He is a retired NCDOT supervisor.. Unfortantanly I have been put on the side lines for the past year due to a injury but I keep hoping with every trip to the doctor that they will release me to return back to trucking.. Anyway good luck with your decession and again welcome to T/N Answer: Welcome, Magpie! For the road, Starkman Answer: BE SAFE & HAPPY TRUCKING SMYLE! Answer: Welcome to TN. Good luck in your career plans. Sounds like you got what it takes. . "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" Answer: Welcome aboard, young lady!!! If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything! MessageBoardBlaster Answer: Hope if you have questions you are not afraid to ask, just keep in mind there are some unhappy people in here, just don't take them to heart, most would agree that trucking is a harder job then just driving up and down the highway but there are some very knowledgeable folks in here to give the whole picture and help you decide if this is a career you really want. After 18 months of lurking here and other trucking sites i've decided to give trucking a go, I understand about the hardships related to the job and after 20+ years in the military, I'm prepared for most any challenge, being alone and working hard are not intimidating factors to me. I fyou have any questions, fire away someone will answer Answer: Thanks, everyone, for your support! I'm sure I'll have lots of questions soon.
