DOT Physical
Question:
Me and my wife received our dot physical and both passed. the problem lies with my wifes vision, while being able to see to drive with no violations and would feel comfortable driving a truck. the dot says if one eye is worse than 20/40 you fail. this is very dissapointing to us but I see where people that have 20/40 or better vision in one eye and 20/400 or blind in the other have exceptions and drive for a long time with a cdl. her sight is 20/30 and 20/70 but with her low vision eye her peripheral is good and she can read the first 2 lines of the chart with no problem. ANY HELP WITH THIS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! Answer: You state that you both passed a DOT physical, but yet you are worried about your wife's vision in one eye. The regs state the vision requirements are with or without corrective lenses. So if your wife's vision is correctable to 20/40 or better with glasses or contacts then there is nothing to worry about. If that 20/70 was with glasses then she should not have passed the DOT physical. For more info post this over in the medical forum for Nurse Red. I will always be a mutter trucker at heart.
