Answer:
TRANS-AM probly has one of the fastest trucks on the road. i had one of thier drivers tell me that the company dosen't control the truck speeds...as he blew doors off and passed me and my 73mph truck in texas. also they haul meat and haulin meat is a pain in the *** because of the long waits to get loaded like 5 or 6 hrs if your lucky. then the short amount of time to get it there.

Answer:
Thats all we need is a newbie driver blowin' doors off and playing Billy Big Rigger in an un-governed truck.
Arguing with a truck driver is like wrestling with a pig in the mud;Sooner or later you figure out the pig enjoys it.
Answer:
drivers, and not one had a bad thing to say.
I'd try to get on with them if they hired out of South Florida.

Answer:
Trust me...their trks ARE Governed.
badman, that drvr that blew your doors off, probably had a new trk that had'nt been to the shop yet, therefore the company mechanics had no idea what it was set at.
or...
That drvr knew one of the "inside" mechanics & paid him to turn his trk up.
or...
That drvr was either an O/O or he drove for someone who has trks Leased On with T/A.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in 1990 when I first started drving, most states had 65mph speed limits & T/A's trks used to fly by doing about 70-75mph.
But, since the speed limit has gone up in most states I don't think I've ran across one that did more than 75-78mph.
I take that back...I think I may have run across 2 or 3 that did more than 78mph.(they were NOT company trks.)

Answer:
TransAm From what I heard from guys at truckstops are a decent company. You are a number to them but, they still are decent. I heard though their orientation is very hard to complete from both recuiters and drivers. The only thing I really wish all companies would take note on, including mine is to get those dam APU generators on the trucks, that alone would be a God's send for all truck drivers who want life on the road to be a bit more confortable.
As far as governed trucks go. I can see TransAm not having a governed truck for out west where speed limits can be 75mph in places and stretch for miles on end. FFE, does it this way sense they are all 48 states, Canada and Mexico. They keep the govenor of the truck at 72mph for your first year as a newbie with them, provided that you don't have any accidents during this time. After one year they bump it up to 85mph. Now, if you get 2 speeding tickets in the same year doing 7+mph over the speed limit, you are automatically fired, without question. Basically, they trust their drivers to manage speed responsibly and not to abuse it, if we do then we loose our jobs, unless we fight the ticket in court, then its a different story. Personally I have no problem with our policy. When I'm on west coast and conditions permit 75mph after my first year then I will travel 75mph (on a straight western highway) but, on the east coast where I live I will do 60 or 65 max. I am not skilled to handle curves at 90mph nor will i ever be. I learned it only takes one accident to ruin a driving career. So, if i have to do 55mph every highway I go, then so be it, just as long as my load isn't late
Hey, if life throws you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it. Who knows what might happen
