Western Truck School in Nevada
Question:
I am in the process of making the plunge into trucking. I live in the Vegas area and they are about the only one I have been able to find. Any word on how good/bad they are. Any feedback is appreciated. I have also looked into going with CRETE I have a friend that drives for them and I like what they offer. Any suggestions? I am a "newbie" at this Thanks Weasel Answer: (5pgs)Past Posts About CRETE(click here) I don't know anything about that particular school you are asking about....Sorry, I couldn't be more help. Answer: Hey Weasel! I attented that same school back in '93 and it was informative and helpful at the same time. Granted it was only a month long the instructors at that time had 4 students to 1 instructor in the driving segment of the school. The classroom was a heads up learning experience, as the instructors had approxiametly 35 years of experience between the two of them. I hope this little bit helps out!! Learn what you can there, and take that knowledge with you, and when you get into the business itself, ask questions, and take most of it in, and keep an open mind and take the bumps along the way and learn from them!! Happy Trails!! Keep the head up, and good LUCK!! Answer: Yeah, i went to that school about 5 years ago. They trained you alright. I didn't have any problems. ! instructor per 4 students. I went thru them in Reno. The instructors there were pretty cool (even though I only went once a week). My dad had trained me but I needed to go to the school basically to study and get more info to obtain a permit. The actual classroom itself was excellent. Hope this helps ya somewhat.....be safe Answer: I went to the Western school near Seattle, good school I guess. I suppose it depends on the specific 'campus' and the instructors you get, but I think they run them all about the same - that would make sense - and I didn't have any complaints. In fact, I got a LOT of driving time and I know they have a good reputation with the major carriers. They may try to steer you to Werner -- you hear that a lot about Western. Nothing wrong with that, but be aware, Werner pays the school a hefty recruiting fee for every student that signs with them. Make them tell you about ALL the companies that hire from them. Good luck, and welcome to the insane asylum! Answer: I see them trucks getting fuel at Penske in N. Las Vegas all the time. Nice looking equipment, drivers look happy. Give 'em a call. Good luck.
