A little food for thought.
Question:
“Run lawless, and it’s only a matter of time before you get caught. Run totally lawful and be uncompetitive. Or live in that gray area, and God forbid there be an accident and a reason for someone to look at the records.” It has been brought up many times around here. Each time I read an article like this it makes me just a little more wary of the many risk in driving. Driving illegal or on the edge just isn't worth it. Because most drivers that have been out for any length of time are already aware of the problem. (Many still thoughtlessly continue.) I thought I would let the newbies read it. If somewhere in the back of your mind you think cheating a little won't hurt, think again. Unhappy Trails "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of all who threaten it" _________________ RC Universe Answer: It just doesn't make sense to run illeagle. Did it for 4 months before switching companies....lotsa stress when ya cross the scale, get inspected, and I think I slept about 5 hours at a stretch, if I was making good time, otherwise it's more caffeine and a cat nap and shower.....that was a benifit though, runnin lotsa miles, burnin lotsa fuel so i got alot of showers free, actually had about 5 to many most of the time, and that's showering everyday! If at first you don't suceed, get a bigger hammer Answer: somebody made a transaction before you and someone after you,you are now between 2 people that will be more than happy to hang you CAT scale tickets have numbers on them, all they have to do is get the number before you and the number after you and they have the carrier names and truck numbers, they now have 2 witness's to say when you weighed,it was between them. same with cash fuel tickets,as long as a computer made them, their is a good chance that the drivers before you and after you, used a credit card, just check the the charge receipts before you and after your cash receipt number and your nailed. Wyle E. Coyote Supergenius! Answer: definitely makes you stop and think. From what I saw from Hubby and have heard from other drivers it's my opinion that most OTR drivers "live in that gray area"(he did) with a large number of drivers running "lawless". The ones driving OTR and running strictly legal are few and far between. Thinking about it in that light makes me question why we are even considering his return to OTR driving. What about the rest of you? Would you agree most drivers also "live in that gray area"? Or are there OTR companies where a driver CAN make a decent living and run strictly by the book legal? Interesting topic, Stuffiu --> _________________ A mind is a terrible thing to have. Answer: Very True. It's not worth it. My hubby is usually home weekends, which gives him a day of no drive time at all. Well this weekend he was not home. He had to sit most of the day yesterday, due to not going over 70 hours. He's sitting more than 8 hours tonight while he keeps below that 70 hours. Tomorrow he gets to drive a bit more, and Wednesday he should be able to have a full day. He could have ran illegally......but we know, It's just not worth it. Even if he isn't making the money as quick. However......he usually does really good, it's just a fluke week.
