Roehl Drivers, Recruiter told, 120,000 miles to pay back the
Question:
I asked the Recruiter how long my commentment would be with them if their company financed my training through their school. Recruiter told me 120,000 miles which would take me about 18 months to get. This does not seem right. 120,000 in 18 months = 6666 per mo = 1666 miles each week. Is this Recruiter correct? Is this all I will run in eather Flatbed or Van. I've read most drivers get in at least 2300 to 2700 miles a week. What is your thoughts on this, Thanks. Answer: There's no way to predict the mileage you will get. He may have given you a Worst case scenerio. You can't possibly survive on 1600mpw at their pay rate anyway. I'd think a recruiter would have said 8months not 18. Mike Answer: I believe he's just throwing figures around. Each week is different, but for your driver manager to make truck/driver utilization, they like to see 2400 mi/week. 120,000 mi. seems pretty much in the ballpark for a newbie. Remember--you'll be with trainers for the first month to 6 weeks. Then they'll probably put you with a training D/M, who will probably take it easy out the gate, and then build up miles later. If you start out with no problems, you should'nt have any trouble. I made 145000 last year. BOL/Razz Better to have it and not need it as need it and not have it!Just remember:If the world did'nt suck, you'd fall off! The more I see and read about Republicans and Democrats, the more I wish we had an Independent Party. IMPEACH BUSH!!!!!!!!!! Answer: I think this Recruiter was tring to be as honest as she could with me. Razz, are you getting that many miles pulling a Van or Flatbed? and just wondering how long you have worked for Roehl. I konw Buzzdog said he started with them last may. Answer: I am on the curtainside div. and averaging 11000 mi. per month (m/l). Give that a try first. Flats are a hell of a lot of work--you earn every damned dime you make--just ask Buzzdog! Better to have it and not need it as need it and not have it!Just remember:If the world did'nt suck, you'd fall off! The more I see and read about Republicans and Democrats, the more I wish we had an Independent Party. IMPEACH BUSH!!!!!!!!!! Answer: BUT.....would you care to toss out a gross pay number to go with those miles for the year?? I ran 121k last year and it was my best year ever $$$ wise I think I will post a topic about this,so you can answer there,or you can email it,or you can tell me to **** up a rope!!! Just trying to compare notes is all CD If you think education is hard......try ignorance recovering dweller..........oilfield trash division Answer: But if you add up the time in School (not sure how long it is) anywhere from a month to 6 weeks with a trainer and then some time with a training dispatcher while you get started, it could take a while to get 120,000 paid miles. These will not start until you are assigned a tractor and start puling loads on your own. But 18 months is still a stretch. I've found that the people at Roehl really try to avoid promising anything. The recruiter probably uses this figure because if somebody can't do it in 18 months than something is really wrong with them. I went with Roehl because their recuiter was the only one who came to my school sounding realistic. All the others seemed to be promising the moon and the stars. And here is another thing to ponder. I get about $1400 a year in tuision reembursment. it will take me the better part of 3 years to get it all back. Answer: I just started mileage pay last week. It wasn't even a full week and I still scanned in over 2000 miles. If I would have had the miles from the first two loads last week I would have been over 3K.
