Welcome to Live Dialogue !!!

There is NO REASON to not have time to take a shower!
Question:
It doesn't matter who you drive for.
Yeah, so you went out and bought all kinds of 'goodies' to make it more 'like home' when you're on the road. Whoopity-Frickin-Do!
You might have a microwave, a tv/vcr combo, satelite dish, xm radio, fridge, play station, x-box, a big dollar CB radio w/ squelch monsters, echo box & 1000 watt kicker, etc.....................
Now you whine about NOT HAVING TIME or MONEY to wash your stinkin (edited)?
Here's a couple tips;
1. SELL all that BS you just bought and go buy a shower credit or an actual shower for that matter.
2. Plan you trips better! If you don't like parking in a truckstop, stop in during the middle of the day when all the rest of the drivers are on the road. Then go park at the shippers/receivers.

Don't whine to me that haven't got any money to buy a shower ticket or that your company keeps you rolling to hard at 500 miles a day. You can ONLY work 14 hours in a day! Shut off the damn tv, laptop, play station and whatever else you're playing with and GO WASH YOUR (edited)!
When I used to run from Minneapolis to Los Angeles all the time, I STILL MANAGED to find time to take a shower and have at least 1 hot meal a day, and I was averaging 4200 to 4500 miles (or more) in 6-9 days. Thankfully, I don't run like that anymore. It'll make you OLD before your time.

Answer:
Pardon me, are you complaining about the goodies and the lack of shower, or just the shower?? I agree with the bathing issue, but I'm not giving up any of my goodies, INCLUDING my shower. I actually use truckstop showers some (if I'm low on fresh water), but at times have paid for then not used the facility due to it being filthy. How can you take a shower in a nasty room and come out clean???? More people should really complain about the cleanliness issue, you can catch really wicked stuff in a nasty bathing area.

Answer:
What about when you are up in New England where there are like 4 truckstops and three of them are so dirty you'd be afraid to get naked in them? Hehehehe

Answer:

Man you got that right! I was in one forget where up there. Talk about nasty.

Answer:
instructors at school say you could wait up to 2-3 hours to be called for your shower at some truck stops. True or false? I feel you should shower every day or atleast ever-other day at a minamum. Specializing in marine repairs: Inboard, Outboard, and I/O's.
Local and long distance hauling available.

Guess I am a bit surprised that you can't find time to take a shower. I haven't been out there that long but always find time to take a shower at least every other day. Most Petro's, TA's and Pilots offer points or whatever for refueling which you can use towards a shower. Some of them give you a shower for just refueling there. GET A CARD FROM THEM!!! They are free and the points add up. Guess you could invest in nose plugs beings you have all the expensive toys in your truck.. It will also help you feel more fresh and AWAKE for the days driving. If you are doing 500 miles a day don't understand why you don't have time. Don't know who you drive for, but alot of terminals have showers also... take a look.. good luck Cub
Answer:

True at some, but not the norm. Some have no waiting, Depends on location.

Answer:

Thats why they make gallon jugs of water, also there is this wonderful invention called GO-JO (waterless cleaner).
Water, wash cloth, soap = (edited)' Bath. It isn't a shower but helps to keep you smelling a bit better. Can even use shampoo and wash your hair.
Larger Companies have terminals, and the terminals do have showers.
NO excuse to NOT wash one way or another. "Thought I'd let you know that I am now in the Snapdragon part of my life- -Part of me has lost its snap, and the other part is draggin!!!!!!"

Answer:
That's also why they make baby wipes. I always try to take one every other day, but when not possible, opt for the (edited) bath. Hey it's better than nothing.

Answer:
As far as waiting for a shower, in the morning at a truckstop near a major city expect to wait, and early evening you probably will wait. Best time is late night or before trhe (edited)-crack of dawn.
Now as far as no excuse for not showering each day, i think i have about the only damn one, and it doesn't even apply too often. I haul furniture to stores, mainly in small towns and when i start i usually have a few hours to get as much off as possible, so passing by the truckstop doesn't gurantee a shower...this last trip was so far out in the sticks i did a total of about 40 miles on the interstate between stops so i would occasionally pass a rinky dink truckstop...nature called and i stopped at one of them and the dang stall door was missing, ended up having to hang my jacket on the old hinge to let people know i was in there.

Answer:
Not me, I burn them showers up... I fuel up every day so there is a coupon on hand all the time. Some of these places are so nasty that you have to wear your shoes into them though!
I made a moose run early last month and there really was no place to shower. I got one in Sturbridge Mass. and didn't get another one till I got back there in a day and a half.

Answer:
From the looks of alot of todays Drivers showering/bathing is not a priority
when they are home. Those green teeth don't come from eat'n grass.

Answer:
I still manage to brush three times a day. I just use bottled water to rinse and spit into the garbage.

Answer:
Do I even wanna know what got this thread started
I ran with an older O/O once for a few days.......and aside from his nightly shower,he would wake up early enuff to heat 2 pots of hot water in his truck and take a "spit bath" before getting dressed.......It CAN be accomplished folks,it just depends on your priorities!!
Whats that smell??????

Answer:
No matter the reason this thread was started,it's one that needed started!
The truckers have bellyached and bellyached about how the public sees them in a jaunticed eye. Yet there are drivers that can't figure out why they can't find time to shower. And these drivers that the public do run into that smell and look like death warmed over is what they will remember sadly!
Perhaps it's bad trip planning or perhaps they buy to many toys and find that they need to run harder and longer to make up that loss in thier paycheck and hence they decide showering is something they can do away with..
I am more inclined to think it's sheer laziness and maybe partly their upbringing.
If they aren't taught good hygiene as a child, then they won't bother as an adult.
One important reason a shower is needed atleast once every two days is.. you can get sick if your body is allowed to build up bacteria from NOT cleansing it!
Take the time out to shower. Plan your trip to coincide when the truckstops are the least busy. If you can't. Then wait for your number to be called. The benefits of that shower will be numerous! One..you will smell better. Two..Your outlook will be much happier! Three.. You will be a little bit healthy.
