How to use mineral deodorant (alum stone)
Question:
Hi guys and girls,
I just bought the mineral deodorant from Mugler's Cologne line last week and I've tried it three times so far, with little or no effect. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong? A leaflet states that the stone should be wet before applying so I pour some water on my hands and rub the stone before rubbing it under my arms...
Does it have to be cold/warm, soaking wet/just a little moist, dabbing/really rubbing??

Answer:
I use a mineral crystal deoderant with great results. I generally apply it when I am just out of the shower and my pits are still wet. If I am applying at other times or I have dried off too much for the crystal to glide smoothly, I run the crystal under the faucet to get it wet. I apply it generously to my underarm and surrounding area, and when I say generously, I mean I probably spend a minute or two applying it, not just a few seconds.
When I use the mineral crystal after (at least) a daily shower, I have NO odor whatsoever. I especially like the crystal deoderant because it does not leave residue or discoloration on my clothing. My first crystal stick has also lasted over a year, even though I apply it heavily.
Hope this helps.

Answer:
Thanks Steve!
I'll give it a try when I exit the shower next time. But do you know if this type of deodorant also prevents sweating? Or does it 'let it all through' and just neutralizes the unpleasant smell?

Answer:
Mineral crystals only prevent odor. They do not reduce perspiration at all. I tend to sweat A LOT, and have never tried an anti-perspirant that actually worked to any noticeable degree, so I don't mind that the crystal is not an anti-perspirant.

Answer:
I put it on this morning when I left the shower, fingers crossed
I do love the fact that it's 100% scentless: it seems as though my SOTD is upgraded from EDT to EDP

If all else fails and you need a good scentless deoderant/antipersperant...check out Mitchum. I did and love it.

Answer:
I apply the crystal right after a shower as mentioned above, while underarms are still wet. A thorough application is necessary for it to work, including the surrounding area of the underarms. It works.
Side benefits are no irritation (as Ive experienced with nearly all other products Ive tried) and no additional scent.

--Steve If you're not anti-aluminum, try Certain Dri. It's the only anti-perspirant that's ever worked for me.
I use the crystal deodorant as well, and you definitely have to apply it liberally. Make sure you cover everything as well.
For those that use the crystal, do you apply any fragrance to your armpits afterwards?

Answer:
Never use mineral deodorant right after shaving your armpits. It hurts like hell!

Answer:
To get the mineral 'stone' wet enough to apply properly is quite difficult and it is not always convenient to apply the stone to the underarm while still dripping wet after a shower.
By far the easiest way to use the stone is simply to wet a tissue and dampen the underarm properly with it THEN to immediately run the stone thoroughly across the dampness.
This avoids trickles of water running everywhere..
