BORAT: Cultural learnings of America for make benefit glorious nation of Kazakhstan
Question:
How many have seen this movie? It opened yesterday, and I saw it today - crude (with a nude man-wrestling scene), offensive, and extremely funny, Sascha Baron Cohen is in rare form as the kazakhstani reporter Borat !

Answer:
As someone who had never seen the Ali-G skit before.. I was really disappointed with the movie. Some of the satire was good and subtle but for the most part I found it kind of dumb.. and not in that "good dumb" kind of way...
Over-references of vaginas and pubic hair.. slapstick comedy that failed, etc.. etc.. I guess I just thought it would be more clever than it was. It was a really rich idea, I just don't feel like it was realized very well....
I'm not against "out there" comedy and in fact.. I love some pretty bizarre and (what would be considered) offensive movies.. but this just didn't do it for me.

a. Sure, Borat is quite crude and offensive, and somewhat Jackass like, but unlike Jackass, it isnt just stupid stunts - I like the fact that Sascha Cohen has the guts to go and actually carry out these funky and offensive activities and interviews with actual people , which sometimes reveals surprising and shocking revelations about what people think about the current political and/or religious situation in the world.

Answer:
I like you...Do you like me?

Answer:
This article explains precisely why I liked Borat more as a part of The Ali G show than I do as a feature-length movie. It feels weird saying this, given the topic at hand, but they really dumbed Borat down for the movie.

I agree that some segments in the movie felt overdone, but the rodeo scene in the movie is quite similar in its execution to the jew song skit. Also, the dinner etiquette session was excellent !

I like!

I went to see it yesterday too and had a great time. I was sort of worried that it might be filled with 'old' jokes like I had seen in clips before but it really was HILARIOUS, extreme but hilarious. I guess Americans don't get a very positive image boost from this though.

Answer:
I thought it was hilarious, everthing I expected. I've seen some Ali G Show before, but not much. I thought that the satire was pretty neat too. In the end, it did become a little dry in the last 20 minutes (excluding the ending back in Kazahkstan) but overall it was extremely funny.

Answer:
Basically, my opinon of it was that all it did was take the best aspects of the show and wear them out. Same thing with the Trailer Park Boys movie. Nothing in the movie was really new and different from the skits on the show.
I find the Ali G show to often be absolutely helarious but as with most other shows of that type, they have a shelf life of maybe three or four years at best before they wear themselves out.
