Tanning alternatives?
Question:
Well, unfortunately Im quite fair skinned (read: white) and would really like to bronze it. However, I am ever skeptical of tanning beds and cant seem to grab an even tan in the sun (definitely not in the nether regions either!) My question is: what are the recommendations for a bronzing lotion/self tanner? Looking for a quality one that wont turn me orange :P Ideas? Answer: If you can afford it, there are spray-tan salons which you pay 30$ or so, and then you have to do this once a week to keep the tan.. It's a cabinet which sprays the whole you with a tan liquid Haven't tried it myself, but I know someone who has, and the results are pretty good Answer: You've got to check out sunless.com. It is the best resource I know of on this subject. As for me, I'd say the best bronzer I've come across is Clinique's Streak Free Bronzer....and for self tanning, only Clarins gives me a "tan" without turning orange. Answer: With the right tanning lotion, tanning beds can work for people who don't tan easily. It's not exactly like being outside and the lotion makes a huge difference. Answer: Jergens Natural Glow is the absolute best thing on the market right now. I've been around the block with tanning products because a few years back I got some dangerous levels of sun from working a job outside for a few weeks straight without protecting myself, and now I have to keep exposure to a minimum. Jergens Natural Glow is subtle at first so you can build on it, I've never had a streak or blotch with this stuff, and it always has a natural look. I HATE the orange or peach look I would get from some brands like Clarins, L'Oreal, Neutrogena, and even Clinique. All these products provided color, except they were hideous. Jergens is where it's at...I would recommend this to anyone! Once every other week I get a standing booth tan (becoming more popular around here) for about 3 minutes (it goes up to 10), and then I layer on Jergens once or twice throughout the week and I always look great. My neighbor has the same natural complexion as I have, and he asks me how I stay tan in the summer without burning up! I guarantee this is what you've been looking for. Answer: John, that sounds exactly liek what I need I'll definitely look into it!! edit: btw, what is your natural complexion? * Also, is the Jergens fine on the face and, er, nether regions? Thanks again 8-) Answer: After John's recomendations, I have tried Jergens Natural glow! I have to say that I am VERY pleased with the results! But be aware of this: IT IS NOT SCENT-LESS. It interferes with my perfumes But it does do a remarkable job! Poweslide: there is a bottle for the face and one for the rest of the body. Your nether regions are in no danger, either. Have fun with it Answer: Dove and L'oreal also make excellent gradual tanners and I think they have slightly more agreeable scents than Jergens but pronounced nontheless. Dove is kind of fruity floral and L'oreal has a tea (some say hay) scent. Jergens "glow" for the face is pretty darn good and doesn't really smell all that much. Color wise it is all going to depend on you. I can get very dark from just one application of L'oreal medium and I am very fair. The biggest downside for me is having body hair and using these. These lotions aren't exactly light and can really make you feel like you are wrapped in plastic. Not pleasant at all. YMMV. If cost isn't a problem I've got to go back to recommending Clarins which also makes a gradual tanner for both face and body. Texture, color and scent are all much easier to live with IMHO.
