1/20/07--For you fisherpersons out there
Question:
Cold and windy this AM so I decided to walk the bank of my boss's smaller pond. Tried drop-shot(one bite-no hookup), jig, rat-l-trap, Pointer, T-rigged Swimming Senko, and a few others. The only bait that got bit was the Pointer. Caught 4 one-pounders and 3 dinks until the 5 lber finally bit. I hardly felt the hit but my Helium helped out. I was afraid the well-worn 12# fluro would break so I played her gently, walking back and forth along the bank until she wore out and I was able to lip her. I think the Blue Sugar helped as that's the heaviest Bass so far this year. 5 lbs--22" Same Bass Dan Answer: It must be the Blue Sugar! Answer: Shannon: I do believe you are correct . I've caught several smaller Bass since the year began but that's the first decent one and the only time I had BS on. It's a better frag than I expected btw. Dan Answer: We have some smallies at a local resevoir. (REALLY small!) I've had good luck with a #16 - 18 woolly bugger (fly) and a water bubble... EVERYONE fishes this rig around here... Too cold to fish the resevoir now unless you're into ice fishing. But I can catch smallies and bluegill all morning long with this setup once the ice melts. There's supposedly some good trout action on the Provo and Green Rivers now, but I haven't been out since before Thanksgiving. Paul Answer: Paul: I can't stand cold weather as I was born in Florida and my blood is too thin . Speaking of Bluegills: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...g?t=1169486057 That's a monster! I've caught a few NEAR that size, but never THAT big... Is that a baitcasting rig? Is that what most bass fisherman use? I have a Cabela's 9' 5-weight fly rod, and my trusty Lightnin'Rods with Pflueger underspin reels in two sizes for the lake... P Answer: Yes, that's a baitcaster rig and the rod and reel were made in Japan for the Japan Domestic Market but several of us US "enthusiests" get them direct from Japan. I use only baitcasters. I am fishing for Bass so anything else I catch is just a coincidence . Here's another one: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...g?t=1169514369 Answer: Originally Posted by Lightninrod Yes, that's a baitcaster rig and the rod and reel were made in Japan for the Japan Domestic Market but several of us US "enthusiests" get them direct from Japan. Those are some impressive blues!! I remember one of the first times I went fishing I caught a beautiful 13 inch rainbow trout. It tasted excellent. It's been awhile since I've been fishing, but I'd really love to go again. Oh Dan, I fish with only live bait. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
