R.I.P. Barbaro
Question:
I don't know how many of you follow horse racing, but this is a shame. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,248194,00.html Answer: Big horse racing fan here. Very sad. Answer: Originally Posted by Dennard I don't know how many of you follow horse racing, but this is a shame. I'm sure we'll all miss him, but I think that it's shameful to spend so much money on a horse when there are far better causes worthy of that money around the world. Being the son of a veterinarian, I don't appreciate any kind of animal racing, because the conditions the horses/whippets/greyhounds are put through are appalling. I've seen Greyhounds come in that look as if they had been starved for weeks, and we're told they have been racing the entire time. My grandfather was a horse owner, and my dad witnessed first hand the conditions which (used to) take place. I don't know how horse racing is nowadays, but the stories he told me were simply disgusting. Bottom line; Barbaro was an amazing horse, and young, but we sometimes forget that he was just a horse, and that other causes could have benefited from the money spent on him (Even if he would have survived I think it would have been money misused.) But, in light of this post, Rest in peace Barbaro, you were phenomenal while alive, and a lesson learned after your death. - Rich Answer: I was watching the race at my work's cafeteria when Barbaro injured himself. Seems like it just happened yesterday. How sad. God bless you, Barbaro. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
