I'm taking back some of what I said about it. It's pretty. Very pretty. Although the layout suffers some flaws, the UI was VERY appealing to look at. when you open a window, it animates it like it's folding the window up onto the screen, and when you close it, it animates it folding back off the screen. Very cool. The sidebar is written in mostly HTML. XAML is actually looking to be very cool, as is .NET 3.0. DirectX 10 looks beautiful so far, we'll see how real the images they showed us were. Developing anything for Windows has gotten A LOT easier. Vista has integrated SharePoint Designer, so everything seems to be working flawlessly so far... Cross your fingers! By the way, I own and love a Mac. - Rich Answer: Originally Posted by _R$_ Got to see some of the more minute details of Vista today at a developer's convention... With any change, even a good change, non-techie users will freak out for awhile, of course. As much as I vilify and ridicule Microsoft, I think they're genuinely trying to get the operating system right. Then again, when you have killions of $ around, that's a little easier to do. The curmudgeon in me finds it annoying that you need stupendous amounts of RAM just to boot the operating system these days. But I gather that Macs are memory-hungry too, and I imagine Unix is creeping up there. I guess they're just building in so much stuff, and at least RAM is cheap now. That's cool that you're facile in both operating systems - that will situate you well to make some cash. And then you'll be able to buy more frags! DW's are some nice drums, dude. Let's jam. Dave Answer: I just heard today that Dell is going to be offering Linux on PC's versus the Windows...cool. From what I can see, it's only Medium to Large business so far... Since business laptops are generally pretty weak, I'm guessing it's because Vista requires a little bit more. I guess MS is taking a page from the MacBook again (haha), by regulating the power of products that run Vista. If it needs more speed, you have to offer a line with more speed, and that's going to help push the industry to produce better products. Apples has been doing it for about 10 years, but they actually produce all the Mac able products, so they have direct control. Cognoscento: What intsrument do ya play man? - Rich Answer: Don't have Vista, won't get Vista. Some things really are that simple. Answer: Originally Posted by kasae Don't have Vista, won't get Vista. Some things really are that simple. But down the track, Windows XP won't be supported any more, pretty much forcing a changeover eventually. I know some people are still happily running the unsupported Windows 98, but they can't really run the later applications. So, I will be running Vista on my MacBook. Some things are THAT simple. - Rich Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
