Do you love or hate your web browser? - Page 2
Question:
Yep, major releases come ~ 2 years. Updates to the current major release come anywhere from a month to six months at a time. I love OS X, but like I said, it's the system I've gotten used to Macs on. More stable than anything I've ever used.

Answer:
I used to work with Firefox for about a year, until I got completely fed up about the thousands of websites that don't comply with it. I'm talking messed up lay-outs, forms that don't work, etc. Therefore I went back to Internet Explorer and I don't really hate it.

It's skinable, had tabs long before MS included them, popup/ad blocker, RSS feed, very configurable and stable, and free. Been using it for several years.

Answer:
OSX rawks. you will probably hate it at first (depends on how evangelical you are as a mac-ie). i'm a programmer, and most of the programmers i know use OSX for their personal machines if not work machines.

The mac mini is a screaming deal.
before i "switched" (ca. ... 2001?) i was a professed mac hater. I was a BeOS lover. I still wish Apple would have based OSX on BeOS instead of NextStep, but they worked it out.
Don't talk to me about linux -- great for servers, not the desktop (while i like much of the politics of open source, chaos and incompatability is the order of the day. our servers come with sysadmins though )
btw - i have NO instability issues on my 5+ year old powerbook G4 running latest OSX, nor my 2006 mini (intel core duo). i apply all patches when they hit the servers for download.

oh - forgot the point pof the post: i use firefox. i LOVE the extensions. its practically its own os. my browser is *so* dialed in....
i heart mac and firefox

i RARELY see an issue using firefox, and this is on a mac no less (which also gets no love from web devs). well under 1% of my browsing time is affected by incompatabilty.

You all are making my brain hurt. My husband is a computer programmer/networking wizard and we have a computer network in our house( 8 PC's and one brand new Mac) and I prefer to think that it all operates so efficiently by magic

Answer:
I hate it, and it hates me

Answer:
I love it when you all talk dirty!!
(BrothaG - you are the only person I have ever heard utter a kind word about IE!!)

I've made my deal with the devil and use Microsoft products in my everyday work. But I use fewer and fewer as time goes on, and when I make my next big score, I would like a Mac.
Like Brotha, I got fed up with Firefox not working with sites. But that was some time ago, and more recently I almost never use IE unless I'm testing websites I'm making. Either FF compatibility is higher than ever, or I'm just managing to miss all the sites that it doesn't work with.
Incidentally, I've been experimenting with Google Apps, which aren't too bad for simple uses! But they're not rock-solid. I don't know how rock-solid you can get when you're relying that much on javascript, and they have to attempt to work with any browser/hardware, a tough deal. The biggest snafu I had was when I imported an Excel spreadsheet into Google's spreadsheet, and it did some things to it that left me scratching my head before I finally figured them out. But that's getting off-topic, and I won't elaborate unless someone's really interested.
Cheers, Dave
