I guess at some point you have to think things over and decide whether or not you have a future ... or if you should just get married.

Answer:
I think I like them, for the most part. But WOW, that is a really square toe. I feel like the heel should be chunkier to compensate for it.

Originally Posted by AndiMAC I think I like them, for the most part. But WOW, that is a really square toe. I feel like the heel should be chunkier to compensate for it. Hm. They look very balanced to me, and I think a chunkier heel would quickly date them, since the clumpy shoe of the last several years seems to be on its way out.
CoTHukoB, I think that, to a large extent, whether or not these shoes would work would depend a great deal on your build; I can really picture these on someone narrow. If you're really solid (LOTS of flesh or muscle), something else may work better.
That said, I'd wear these in a flash myself, but I'll bet they don't come in a man's 5

Also, as interesting as the hardware up front is, it makes the boot less versatile and suitable to fewer and more specific venues. I think the boot came together in an integrated way, i.e. the overall shape was designed, then the details worked up.
I'm not so certain I agree with the second half of your statement; if these boots are "really you" (repellent phrase, I know, but it best describes what I'm trying to say), than you can wear them with pretty much everything. I know that men's clothing for more formal occasions tends to be more conservative than women's, but there is nothing flashy or trashy about them. they look well made, extremely elegant, and the details that stand out when looked at head-on in an image would be far more subtle when actually on your feet.
The real question is, can you pull 'em off? If not, they may end up looking a bit forced or costume-y.

Do you like games, Mongoose? I have one for you. Rasputin wearing Zagorsk gave me an idea ...
The rule is: I am sane. I'm only suffering from an overflow of curiosity.
Pick one of these seven names:
1. Michael
2. Gabriel
3. Raphael
4. Hamiel
5. Uriel
6. Remiel
7. Raguel
I'll give you a hint. I'd shove Gabriel's horn where it don't shine, but he could kick my ass. Haha! Arches and Powers are an interesting topic for musing.
Pick one.
If you're right, you will see me on the sunny side of thirty, and you can decide if i can "pull off those boots or not".

Thus began a looooong series of IQ tests, at the end of which I was upbraided severely for neglecting maths homework, and subjected to an equally long array of what I believe were psychological tests. Then, more IQ tests, with testers (?) from all over the state, who'd come, apparently, just to inform me that if I DID do my homework, I would be "skipped" at least a year, wouldn't that be NICE (aaah, an opportunity to get assaulted daily by even bigger kids, yes, charming indeed), blablabla... never seen such waste of a mind, bla bla, gifted, bla bla, lazy, bla bla, you should be ashamed of yourself, bla bla future academic career, bla bla... (And they wondered why I wore only black. Bah.)
Ahem.
Sorry
I'm not mad keen on most games; the phrase "do you like games?" tends to make me feel queasy and anxious.

And yes, I'll pick an archangel. I just need to disassociate this from my childhood weirdness

Answer:
I will go with Raphael, because he represents Spring, and it's now April and, indeed, sunny. In that sense, he takes over from Gabriel, who represents Winter (where the sun don't shine...at least, not often?).
Sometimes I think too hard though.

Originally Posted by mysteriousmongoose "Do you like games, er, um, ah... [insert mispronunciation of my name]." I have a good one on names for you. Years ago, i had to go to court for a traffic violation (one of many, haha). I have many names (think my fingers and toes might just about cover them), and the one on the driver's license at the time was Slavic. So my name was called (poorly), and i corrected the clerk.
The judge looks at me and says, "I never heard of that. That's not the way we pronounce it in this country. Why do you think that is?"
So i said, "Ignorance."
The son of a bitch turned redder than his hair. Thought he was going to have a stroke. Of course, i had to pay the biggest fine, like, ever. But it was worth it to see his face.
Now, as to the other part. This isn't that kind of game. This is a good game. See, your "can you pull it off, d'ya think" is a challenge. Now, i could easily deflect it, side-step it, overlook it, etc. but it occurs to me that this might actually be kinda fun.
So, I have to ask back: "About what are you curious?"
And yes, I'll pick an archangel. I just need to disassociate this from my childhood weirdness My sanity disclaimer is mostly just that. A disclaimer. The trivia question is a little out of the mainstream and the simpler might misconstrue. As to what i'm curious about ... the answer is: almost everything. I think one of the greatest personal gifts a person can give themselves is to "be curious". This was in Jules and Jim even.
I'm a fan of Christopher Walken and saw some negligible films with him in the "Prophecy" series. This led me to follow up on the Book of Enoch and just learn about the topic. In Antwerp i saw Fouquet's cherubim and seraphim and wanted to know more. So i thought up the question. If you guess correctly, it'll make even more sense.
Arches, Powers, Principalities, etc. etc. Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! Such an incredible mess of contradictory information out there!
Choose.

Answer:
Michael
--------------------------------------
Fire
Mercury
Swords
2 others.

Good try, though! And i'm glad you're in this, Indi - out of the box line of thinking there, it's a precious commodity! Hang on to it. Btw, you were also incorrect.
Mongoose, d'ya really think Michael couldn't beat up on Gabriel? It'd be a hell of a fight, but they're well-matched. Process of elimination and a little insight, you could have had it!
So, back to shoes then. Mongoose, when you say they could be "worn with just about everything", well, yes perhaps - but what i meant was - there are certain PLACES i would not wear them out of respect for certain traditions and norms. For instance, if i wanted a table in the Music room of 1728, i would not wear these. They'd be a little wrong. Would i wear these to some stuffy reception? Probably. Maybe. Depends.
