Seven deadly fashion sins that should never have been brought back - Page 3
Question:
Came late in the thread, so I'm commenting on men's fashion sins first:
1) teen-aged boys (high school aged) who wear the crotch of their jeans down to their knees -- they think it's cool to show off the tops of their underwear and to walk like a pengiun
2) men's cropped wide legged pants normally worn with jesus sandals -- i call them the hobbit pants, you know, something that sam gamgee and frodo would wear, hairy feet and all
About heels: I'm 5'5" and am now on the slender side. I used to weigh more and found that wearing heels is painful as more weight is put on the ball of the foot. I can wear heels now with minimal discomfort -- but I wonder, what's the point, when normal height shoes (about 2") are the best and most comfortable -- and they look good with most outfits. I somehow cannot wear flats though, my arches hurt if I walk too far in them.
I would feel the same if I were 5'0 or 5'10, looks do not matter as comfort is the key.

What is that? Don't they realise women (and presumably gay men) are attracted to a tight, well-defined butt and that the best way to showcase that is snug, well-fitting jeans worn where they're meant to be worn and not halfway down the thighs?!!!
I hate this fashion. And I always have the urge to run up behind them and pull their pants down!

Answer:
It gets worse: A few weeks ago I saw an advert for those baggy jeans, in small boys sizes, BUT with a waistband insert that LOOKS like the top of the underwear. I cannot even guess what was going on in the minds of the generators of this one.

i don't really understand why these are deadly fashion sins And leggings look good on me. Still, I can see that in many cases, they're a bad idea. On a very thin person, skinny jeans may well look great; and on someone very very young looking (e.g. looks 14 or younger) puff sleaves may not look absurd. And, on someone who is not only very slender, but has NO breasts to speak of, high waisted jeans may not look horrible.
But trust me, they don't look good.
Have you ever heard a woman express the feeling that she needs to look more compact? This is precisely what the high waist does. Magazine editors are paid to say they look good now (five years ago they would have laughed their heads off had they seen anyone wearing these in public, and called them "frumpy mom pants").
On women with breasts, a high waistline gives is a horrid and disturbing look that makes it appear as though there are about 5 cm between breasts and waist, an effect most women prefer to shun (for an excellent reason: http://gofugyourself.typepad.com/go_.../fuglias.html; http://gofugyourself.typepad.com/go_...vichhawk.html), sort of the like the empire waist in the utterly repellent and ubiquitous boho look, (e.g. http://gofugyourself.typepad.com/go_...karfugian.html)
Sins? Weeeell, there is such a thing as hyperbole. . .

Well indeed... Even Scarlett can't make these look good!

Wow...I didn't know she was the one responsible for the current trend of leggings and a short jean skirt...never really pay attention to celeb fashion. I really don't like that look thought you can work the shoes with a different outfit.
The high waisted jeans when she did the Imitation of Christ show kinda looks cool..very retro...I saw that collection..It was done in a New York Church and the vision was kinda cool thought I forget what it was..I remember some of the models that handcuffs on and there was debate whether or not the designer would continue with the line.

"Gravity. This time it's personal."

PS: The creepy thing is ... she was born in 1984.

Answer:
Okay this (http://gofugyourself.typepad.com/go_...t_johanss.html) IS bad.
However, if you look at the position of S.J.s breasts relative to, say, her armpits, there aren't any gravity issues here, her breasts are great... but the high-waisted pants create the illusion that her chest has migrated south.
'nuff said?
Summing up: High waisted pants, "NYET"; not for retro reasons, not because some insane person has convinced you they make your legs look long, just "nein". "nej". "non". "não". . .
Unless you just love them for themselves, of course, which justifies almost anything, including house-dresses over capri pants, with white marabou mules.
