Just curious (not that i have much interest in participating in this thread), but so i can be perfectly clear on something. The 2nd Amendment is of interest only to about a quarter billion people in one country in a corner of the world. Are these U.S.-based forums? The registry is Schlund & Partner AG, UK. I think it's because of what PaulG mentioned in his post, that it's not allowed to venture into "hot topics" and that would include politics. But i do agree with you though, that there are many people who do not even know(or are interested in) what the 2nd amendment is, because it's local only to the U.S.A., and i think that they shouldn't pay for what others have said, but hey, rules are rules i guess. My condolences to the families of the deceased. Thank-you for your helpful advice. I should have made that clearer, you are correct. The second ammendment is part of the Bill of Rights. To paraphrase it, it says that United States citizens have the right to own guns. It is a major hot button topic in the United States. Answer: Being in jail for two days, I watched this develop nearly all of those 48 hours. He recorded a video and wrote a letter to one of our news services, and mailed it in between the two shootings. The guns he had were purchased illegally, with both of them missing their serial numbers. He was railing against spoiled rich kids, citing them many times in the video he sent. Unfortunately, when he stormed into the classroom, he shot everyone he saw, rich or regardless. He also shot a Holocaust survivor, which I think is particularly sad. Beside the fact that he shot college students with their entire lives in front of them, he shot an old man who's only wish was to teach his students (And in the end, protect them) the love of his craft. A tragedy indeed, and our media is putting music to it. On another note, an Italian newspaper wrote that this event was "As American as apple pie.". Wow. Thanks for your condolences. We really appreciate it, especially when he was an immigrant. Way to fuel the fire that was shouldn't allow as much immigration as we should, not like they don't have a hard enough time getting in. - Rich Answer: Quote: Originally Posted by _R$_ ....... He purchased the Glock gun in March 2007 LEGALLY from a Gunshop in Roanoke, VA. He purchased the 22 in April 2007(also legally) at a pawnbroker in Blacksburg, VA(it's been all over the news don't know how you missed it.) He passed the required background check for VA which is done immediately and only takes a few minutes and only prohibits sales to people with felonies on record. VA has some of the most lenient gun laws in the US. Oh and, he filed the serial numbers off himself which has been widely reported in the media, as well. Answer: why would he need to take the numbers off? what would that do? also, anyone know exactly what event caused him to do it? He said "I gave you a hundred billion chances" but for what? chances to do what? I thought that he had purchased the guns from the pawn shop with the numbers already filed off, which would be illegal. I was clearly wrong. G Man - He was talking to the "spoiled rich kids". He gave them a hundred billion chances to do what he wanted them to do. He really just wanted to fit in, but didn't have the capacity. He was clearly demented, and unfortunately suicidal. He thought that the "spoiled rich kids" were being debaucherous (sp), and thought they should lead better lives. Such as stalking girls, like him. A very sad ordeal indeed. He mostly rambled in his video. One thing he kept on saying "Your __________ was not enough" (Fill in blank with high priced item). Unfortunately, I didn't hear was ________ wasn't enough for. Anybody else hear? - Rich Answer: I think it is a mistake to try to make sense of any of his rambling rationalizations. He was mentally ill. Probably schizophrenic. There is no telling how many voices there were in his head. Sadly, his was not a benign illness. Unfortunately he was angry enough to kill many people who had dreams, possibly bright futures, etc. So it's a fookin' shame. The media? Irresponsible, i think. Lots of bright people along with a good helping of dimwits, but they have to make a living. So they've funneled the country into mostly two camps: one camp that's busy blessing each other, and the other busy putting labels like "loner", etc. as responsibility. Dumbasses. -------------------------------------- Quote: Originally Posted by _R$_ Being in jail for two days, I watched this develop nearly all of those 48 hours. Hey, Rich ... dontcha know you're not supposed to get caught, you silly person you. Punk in Drublic? Answer: His history was quite disturbing...he should never have been in that milieu. Virginia's committal laws are apparently difficult. Interesting that Nikki Giovanni said she threw him out of her class because she sensed that he was "Pure evil." She said that she'd had crazy students and unhappy students, but he was just too awful. Wonder if anyone else could have gotten away with that statement.
