Best Dressed Movie - Page 5
Question:
I personally adored Chariots of Fire. *Alice Krige in that fabulous black swing coat, dramatic hat, pale make-up and deep, red-black lipstick pacing in high heels while anxiously waiting for Ben Cross to come home from the Olympics. *All of the terrific 1920's period clothes for both men and women. *And best of all, watching a young and divine Nigel Havers, as Lord Andrew Lindsay, practicing the hurdles on his family's estate, with glasses of champagne balanced on each one to test if he actually touches the hurdles as he jumps them. *Milena Canonero was the costume designer and she also did the costumes for another personal favorite - Out of Africa, in addition to those of A Clockwork Orange, the remake of Love Affair (mediocre writing, but really great clothes on Annette Bening), Oceans Twelve and the outrageouslly absurd uniforms in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (Willem Dafoe in hot pants, anyone?). *
Ralph Lauren did design the men's clothes for The Great Gatsby, but I don't think he did the women's costumes. *
I also loved Dangerous Liaisons - both with Glenn Close and the version with Annette Bening. *And for pure fun, is there anything quite like the shopping scene at Bergdorf Goodman in "That Touch of Mink?"
If we're going to mention TV, I have to add Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth. *But maybe I just have a thing for English country manor houses.
