earring(s) on a guy - Page 2
Question:
I would never wear an earring Answer: Heck, my ears aren't pierced, so his certainly shouldn't be. Answer: only on pirates if you're a male. i have friends, i've known guys, and i've seen guys with them, and it doesn't look natural. not like how women wear them. i dunno, maybe it's because i correlate earrings with feminatilty or what, but it just looks silly for guys to have them. but if a guy has them and proudly displays it in front of the world, then more power to him...just not for me. Answer: I voted "so 1990". *I'm tired of it, and never liked it on everybody anyway. *I'm tired of seeing body piercings (and tattoos) everywhere I look. And furthermore, I don't like the big huge enormous diamond rocks in rap stars' and sports stars' ears. It just looks silly to me. But many Elizabethan men wore earrings, hoops mostly, if you look at the old portraits. Answer: I voted "it depends on the guy" because while it seems to fit some guys, on others it looks just plain silly. Like my husband could NEVER get away with wearing an earring, it would look so wrong ... Answer: At one time I would have seen the point. I've soured on the whole body piercing/tattoos/body-as-art movement because I just don't see what purpose it serves anymore. Trendy? Who cares. Self-individualization? Not with 10s of millions of others doing the same. Looks good? Who's to say - maybe this year, but definitions of style always change, even for the individual. It just seems that most people I have known who have done it have done it to "individuate" or "express" themselves, and that seems almost sadly ironic as just about every other person I see has piercings or tattoos, including little kids, so where's the individuation. And as for expression, I mean, if someone has something to say it seems better to write a song, a book, or a blog. Just doesn't work for me, or make sense to me anymore. The reasons go far beyond that which is commonly thought. The habit of ignoring the spirit is deeply implanted in our times. Answer: When I first saw ear piercings done as a kid, I wanted one but was told I had to wait until I was older. Years later when mom and I were on our way to dinner and passing a jewelry store I got one. It was way too small for my studly demeanor at the time, so I enlarged the piercing by putting ice on it and pushing a scribing awl through it..slowly. I then had a custom hoop made. That and the rock and roller hair, I was stylin man! I stopped wearing the earring years ago for some of the reasons rob mentioned, its become a trendy thing that everyone seems to be doing, which opposes my original reasons for wearing one. Although that piercing will still take a hoop after all these years. You make your own style. You adorn your body because it matches up with your vibrations. It doesn't matter what others do. It's all about what feels good. Pierce every part of your body if you want. It's not just about looks. It's about sensuality and catharsis. Read Modern Primitives. Break through. "Who so would be a man must be a non-conformist. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind." Ralph Waldo Emerson Answer: Dangly stuff just looks silly on a man. Small, tasteful earrings on a man can look ok, but it takes confidence and style to pull it off. Me, I have no piercings or tattoos. I'm strange enough already without drawing more attention to it.
