Favorite Jeans?
Question:
Well I'm looking to revamp my wardrobe before going off to college, and since I don't know a whole lot about jeans designers, I was wondering some of your favorite jeans designers? Answer: I need new jeans too. I've been wearing APC for ten years - they make great, traditional indigo jeans in very stiff denim, it's almost like cardboard. Prices are good too. However I would prefer something slightly softer as I can't be arsed wearing the denim in. Also they have changed the sizing and my size is now too loose - the size down is too small. But I would recommend them to anyone: www.apc.fr I hate all those artfully torn, bleached, ripped or distressed jeans. Answer: Hi Mics, I divide jeans into different groups: For a casual "street" look I would go with Evisu, Edwin, some vintage Levi«s (available at urban outfitters I believe), Etienne Ozeki, Duffer of St.George or a baggier model from Diesel. BTW if you«re looking only for quality for a good price nothing really beats Carhart, they are unbelievable in terms of durability. For more formal straight leg classic denim: Helmut Lang-fantastic fit and really discreet without backpocket stiching. Calvin Klein has some decent classic models and washes. Levi«s 515 and 507, the first is totally straight while the second is slightly bootcut and available in many more washes. APC, a french brand, also have very simple high quality denim garments both in baggy and quite tight fits. Another sweet brand for jeans is DKNY which I guess fits into this category too. For a bit more extravagant, original and of course more expensive check out: Just Cavalli by Roberto Cavalli - this denim is like little pieces of art with some very flamboyant prints and colours, can be tacky at times but also VERY cool. Seal Kay - Semipricey italian brand with great washes and models. Stone Island - Fotball bullies favorite brand, earthy colours and high quality. Daniele Alessandrini (if its available in the states at all?)-Very nice brand with plenty of models and washes. Only one lenght though, I«m 183 cm and they fit me perfect without turnups. Original jeans with cool details and high quality. Hope this has been to some help for you! Regards Matt 8) Answer: I wear Diesel. Their fabrics are the nicest in the mass category :-) here. For summer they usually uses light materials, some almost linen. And they do make lower waist jeans for men:-) Their slightly baggy cut is also not bad. The styling is getting worse now actually. Out loud overdone. They used to make one or too discreet details. But it's no more. Helmut Lang jeans are said to be cult:-) Yoox.com has a lot of them in discount prices. Answer: I have a pair of corduroy Helmut Lang jeans and the cut & fit are amazing. I have never tried his denim jeans though... I was going to this year but the price suddenly leaped up from a reasonable 100 euros to 175-200 euros. Answer: Mike_C -- which APC jeans do you own? Êare they the unisex ones or the english style? do you know the differences between the two? Êare they even on the website? lol sorry lots of questions. i've been looking for a nice unwashed indigo. straight leg, pair that i can wear out myself, and APC's sound great. I have the style called "standard jean*" - it's on the website, click on "Homme" and then the "Denim & t-shirts" section. The English style is lower at the waist and slightly baggy around the arse. Not quite skater style but they sit a lot lower than the standard. I have the indigo standard* jeans and they are classic five-pocket no frills denim. They are quite slim, with narrow legs and a button fly. A boot cut version is available too. Lots of Parisians live in APC jeans, they have become a real speciality of the city! Apparently they are made on 1940s and 50s weaving machines to get the right traditional texture. The cut is very "now" though. *EDIT: The "Standard" Jeans are now called "Unisex" (mixte in French). Sorry about that. Answer: I use Lacoste, now they are made of Barcelona by Armand Basi, and are not very expensive. 70-80 Euros. Those who I like are those of Armani, but as his color they have a very nice blue, but they are very expensive and I do not buy them. Answer: 2(x)ist jeans are my favourite. For some reason they fit me best, the styles & colours are very nice and not too artsy-fartsy. The "Road" pair has the softest nicest denim possible and they are perfect for summer. They are all bootcut or slightly flared. I also like Paper Denim, but I have a hard time finding my length (I think you ought to be rather lofty & lanky to wear them). Bufallo jeans are very nice too and a good variety of styles from basic to somewhat odd. I like some basic jeans like GAP, Banana Republic and Express, but their fit and cut can be hit & miss often. I am also quite partial to my bootcut CK jeans, they are made of some very lightweight denim and are called 12 or 10 ounces, something like that. Perfect for a hot summer. A lot of people swear by 7 For All Mankind and they do look nice and I like the cuts and the denim, but every other person here wears them and I get the impression everyone shops in the same mall or on the same street. Never really liked Diesel tbh... I wear bootcut or slightly flared jeans, never ever tapered jeans (I hate them passionately!) or baggy or relaxed fit or loose cut. maksidrom Answer: I'll go along with others here and nominate Helmut Lang! ÊGreat fabric, lots of different cuts, and you can get them relitavely cheap on eBay or Yoox.com (which was mentioned before, and they are great, fast, and dependable, and everything is returnable!) ÊHalmut Lang also makes "vintage" jeans, that actually look and feel like jeans that have been nicely worn in, not like those awful Diesel ones that are just so bizarre and gaudy. I have a pair of Red Ear by Paul Smith that I love, and Costume National makes some amazing more dressy jeans. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
