When do you consider re-purchasing a bottle?
Question:
When I finish up around half a bottle of one of my favorites, I start getting antsy that I should restock. Even if it's taken me months to finish up the first half, I get the feeling that I need to get more ASAP. I'm getting better at talking myself out of hoarding, though . So when do you all start thinking about restocking your favorites?

Answer:
I usually buy my favorites when I have the money and see a good deal. I bought two bottles of Mechant Loup just because I knew I would use it all and I didn't want to need more in the future and have to spend a fortune.
I'll add a question to this thread... How do you decide if a bottle is worth buying again?

Answer:
If they are discontinued, I am always wanting to keep 2 backup bottles. If they aren't discontinued, I begin to think about it and plan when I get to the last third of the bottle. My collection is always between 30 - 35, so I actually finish bottles!!!

Answer:
I'm like Jock on this - if something I love is discontinued, I'll buy a couple of bottles to keep in reserve...and I'll hover over eBay like a crazy thing in case a bottle pops up there cheap in the meantime. If the perfume I'm running out of isn't discontinued, I usually wait until there's a centimetre or so left in the bottle before repurchasing.
Shalimar, Apres l'Ondee, Etro Patchouly, Les Meteorites and Philosykos are all things I've had to buy again recently - and I'm nearly out of Bois d'Iris. I'm not sure whether I should count this as a small or large number of bottles!

Answer:
I always fight against the same feeling you got, CologneJunkie!
I'm trying to put in my mind that while the bottle isn't empty to the last drop, I don't need another one! (of course, a highly discounted bottle could be purchased)
Another thing that happens to me is that one day I think a fragrance is awesome and I need to stock because It's marvellous etc. The other day, the fragrance isn't so great and my only one bottle is enough.

Answer:
I guess I'm just the outlier..
I buy a new bottle when the old one is empty. So far this has happened twice:
CK Eternity
Santos de Cartier
If I'm using it enough that I empty a bottle, then it's an automatic rebuy.
The only thing I've bought extra bottle for is JHL. Now, after never having seen it actually selling retail locally, Nordstroms has a few bottles on display. eh, je ne regret rien (sp?).

Answer:
I get the same feeling when the bottle gets half empty. I actually begin to use it less often. So buying another bottle reduces my worries and allows to enjoy the scent as often as I want.
However, since there is still almost a half bottle left, I don't rush to buy another bottle until I find a good deal, because I know I have plenty of time (unless it is discontinued of course).
Lately, I got few bottles of discontinued frags, like Coriolan, Guerlain Vetiver Vintage, Nemo, Romeo Gigli, Yohji and I would buy at least a couple bottles of any discontinued frag that I like.
I decide that I need another bottle if I feel very comfortable wearing the scent, enjoy it, feel that it is special in some way, that it stands out for me.
Obviously I would not buy another bottle is I don't like the scent or it feels like a variation of something more "extreme" that I have or want to buy.

Answer:
With my favorite scent, Kenzo Jungle Elephant, I have been known to buy two at a time, because it's sometimes hard to get. Other than that, I rarely "stock up," I always seem to manage to get something if I really want it bad enough, unless it's ridiculously expensive, then I say, next...I can't stand when they "discontinue" something that was very popular, (like Indecence, or Chaos, and then charge a inflated price for it. HATE THAT!!! I pretty much wait until I finish 3/4 of the bottle, until I repurchase again. Not worried...

I do the exact thing with perfume... actually, I probably do it with all my products, so periodically I have to go through and force myself to use the last 1/4 bottle of shampoo, body lotion, perfume, etc. instead of hoarding it for a special day.

Answer:
I think I have enough different fragrances that they should all last a long time, except for those I like so much and use much more frequently. In that case as I get near the bottom of the bottle I will buy more. Exceptions are if I see a great buy or hear it will be discontinued.
