Top Notes

Base Notes Sandalwood, Patchouli, Amber, Vanilla, Leather,


I was comparing and contrasting these today, and noticed many similarities. Curzon is drier with a more forceful but fleeting sweet citrus opening with a . I cant find Curzons' notes anywhere. Antaeus is "sweeter" overall probably due to a more pronounced amber and sage note; it also opens with a sharper and more attractive lavender opening. Although I prefer Antaeus due to its alluring beeswax-leather base accord, it seems to be inspired by Curzon.

Trumpers Sandalwood has almost the same notes as Antaeus, and smells similar from the top through the heart notes (the heart is sweeter than Antaeus with a more pronounced floral heart), but the base is where I notice the biggest difference between the two

So....Curzon, Antaeus, and Sandalwood...what a cluttered mess

Anyone else compared and contrasted these ?

Sincerely I've always found Curzon to be the clone (not a badly done one) of Antaeus and Sandalwood cologne to be the Clone (again not a bad done one) of Egoiste.

I've always thought of Curzon as a somewhat generic cologney smell. Not bad, but a traditional citrus-floral-chypre progression.
Antaeus, on the other hand, is to me far more unique, with that weird waxy patchouli spicy almost smoky accord.
I found a bottle of Fendi Uomo cheaply the other day - did a test run, haven't bought yet, but I thought it was a lot closer to Antaeus than Curzon is.

Yes I think those comparisons are more valid, although it seems that Antaeus "cloned" Curzon since it came later, and Sandalwood did the same with Egoiste. Curzons drydown is more smoky than Antaeus though. I agree that the Chanel versions are better than their English counterparts.
