Question:
I am planning to buy this one. I've tested it for two weeks and this is my personal impression:
At the beginning for the first hour I say: Wow!! This one smells very fresh, alive, sexy....and I like it. But after an hour I cannot smell anything. Ok when I get with my nose very very close to the skin I can smell something dry, metallic wood...
I am wondering....some say that this one has great sillage but I think it is very close to the skin...perhaps just my nose???
Other frags like the dreamer or D&G ph have great sillage on me.
What do you think? Just a personal problem or do you have the same experiences??

I have the same problem with Allure. For me, Chanel has yet to produce a bottle worthy mens fragrance.

I have all three discussed here Platinum, Allure and D&G ph.
I have biggest sillage and lasting from Allure and love it very much, thought I'd consider it more appropriate for evening and special events and especially for romantic moments. Platinum, is one of my favorites, easy. Love it like something in between "true" fresh scents and woody ones. Good for all ocassions. I get decent lasting and longetivity, though not that good like from Allure. Early days I used Platinum as my signature scent, wearing it days after days (before my BN days) and I got like soaked with it and lasting and sillagage never was a issue.
D&G PH - like it too, though due its popularity do not use much and it has short lasting and weak sillage on me. Paco Rabane XS in the same category with D&G - great but weak and short lived and ubiquity kills it for me.

this is not a me trying to stretch the truth at all but i find that Allure and Platinum produce THE most sillage out of all the scents in my collection. the sillage is so strong and people around me can def tell i'm the cologne guy after just 2.5 spritzes on my chest with a fresh tshirt over it.
try applying a nonscented lotion to the area where you spritz it. moisturized skin holds scent better than dry.
i still find it odd that you have longevity issues with these 2 gems lol! there the ones you can smell on your clothes 2 weeks after in your hamper for me!

PE is an absolute sillage MONSTER on me! It lasts 24 hours+ and projects all the way. All Chanels except Pour Monsieur pack very good ouput in my experience.

My friend wears this all the time and from where I'm sitting (across the table in a smokey pub) it is an absolute MONSTER. I wonder if the silage is so good that you get olfactory fatigue rather quickly??

Tanzfreak24, Have you tried the original Égoïste ? In my opinion it is far superior, in all ranks, to Platinum.

For a Chanel I would recommend Pour Monsieur Concentree and Antaeus more than the others. But for PE I dont really think it has sillage or longevity problems in fact it could be superior to the D&G that you mentioned.

you must be kidding.. PE has sillage and longevity like crazy! I can smell the PE on the sweater im wearing now and I haven't worn it since 5 days ago..and I'm not forcing myself to smell it.. I am catching whiffs of it..
I love PE. It must be your nose. TRUST ME. Others can smell it. I once thought how you did.. I ended up putting 6 sprays on..and I was embarassed b/c i could finally smell the sillage midday and by then i knew i was probably killing people the first 1-4 hours wearing it...
