Rose Poivree - Page 2
Question:
I didn't get along with this one at all, first it's pretty pleasant, but in the end I didn't get anything but civet, which is actually a note that I love, but it turned a somewhat "rotten feel" the rose Answer: I wore Rose Poivre throughout the day today. Most perfumes soften on my skin rather quickly, and Rose Poivre was no exception. The strong pepper hit at the beginning was unpleasant to my nose (unlike the great balance of pepper/rose in Caron's Perfume Sacree) , so I was relieved when it gave way to a slight lilac scent. I emphasise the word slight, and it was gone after two hours. The scent stayed close to my skin all the way through; so close that attempts to sniff it at close quarters resulted in a bit of a sinus headache. At no time did I detect the rose notes. That is a pity because I love rose and seek it out in many of my perfumes. RP gave the fishiest smell I've ever got from a perfume, and that rules it a no-go area for me in future. I am a fan of Jean Claude Ellana frgarances generally, but this one is not for me. Good luck to anyone who has this and loves it. Long may it give you pleasure. I'm spending the evening enveloped in Feminite du Bois. Answer: RP gave the fishiest smell I've ever got from a perfume, and that rules it a no-go area for me in future. I see I'm not the only one here :0) Answer: This is just MY opinion, so everybody don't gang up on me...lol...Personally, I can't stand the smell of roses in a fragrance, but especially for a man. Why would a man, want to smell of roses? I do associate that particular note with a woman. I know most of you on here, DO NOT have fragrance boundaries, but sometimes, I just do. Do I think that it is unacceptable for a man, absolutely not, but just surprising to me. Oh well...to each their own...Times have certainly changed...I guess I grew up in the right time period for me. Answer: God - I think roses on a man are *fantastic* - really sexy. I can't be in a minority, can I? While we're on pepper, a really, really good rendition of the note can be found in Caron's Poivre. It's one of the urn scents, and it's blimmin' marvellous. I also tried some of the Ex Voto Ambree recently, and that's got a very true pepper note too. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
