Which frags have worn out their welcome fastest? - Page 2
Question:
For me it's the famous Acqua Di Gio. It's not bad, but it's not very complex either. I have to make sure not to wear it often because if I wear it more than two times in a row, I get very bored of it. Answer: Boucheron PH. I trot it out every now and then "just to see" and it pretty much never makes it past 3 days before it is back in the cupboard. :-/ Answer: Quote: Originally Posted by dav-here Have you ever bought a fragrance that you thought you liked, only to find that you wished you hadn't been so hasty in your purchase? I had heard that this was popular with the ladies, so I sampled it at the mall and loved it! I bought a bottle the following week and wore it the next day and still loved it. But the next time I sprayed it on me, it smelled like a cheap vanilla-scented Christmas candle (thanks, SlimPickens, for the accurate description)!! I gave Pi one more chance and, same thing--YUCK!! So after only 3 wears, it's now on my swap list. Cool Water Deep is another one that I loved when I first bought it, but traded it after about a week's worth of wears. Ha! I saw the title thread and instantly thought: Pi! I still like it, but it's not on my all-star list anymore. I don't really know why Pi does this to so many people, but it really wears out it's welcome pretty fast. There is something about it that makes me come back, but only for a little while. Answer: Beyond Paradise by Estee Lauder bought it because of all the hype in magazine ads, liked it a 1st but wasn't long before it stayed on the shelf untouched. Answer: I'm starting to feel that way about Dunhill Edition. I can tell it's a well crafted, classy scent. But on me it's just too much cinnamin and not enough woods. It's one of those that is better in the bottle than on my skin. It my be up for trade soon if I can't get my nose around it. Answer: I'm going with another Givenchy fragrance. Xeryus Rouge. It caught my attention when I first smelled it on tester and I bought it. However the Carolina Heat, My Skin and the Kumquat (sp?) just make for too much sweetness. But I LOVE PI!!! I guess I'm just a sucker for Vanilla. Answer: Chrome, Polo Blue, Xeryus Rouge, Insense,... I could name a few more. Fortunately, I have more in my collection that I like than those I dislike. Answer: * * * * * * * * * Bvlgari Blv Answer: Aramis Classic. I thought I had to get that classic, and I was into Chypres then, anyway. (Had to get some castoreum based frags.) Quite soon though, I had to admit that I couldn`t carry it. It just wasn`t "me" at all. I think Aramis is Classic to admire, but not to wear. Answer: Royal Bain de Caron - tried it, found it unusual and warm and alluring, plumped for a bottle (fortunately didn't pay that much for it), and on the first spray - eurch! Not for me. I would also say Ormonde Jayne's entire range - they mostly smell very interesting on card but on my skin - and they all have this effect to differing degrees - they are the only fragrances that make me feel really quite nauseated.
