What percentage of your collection consists of "Testers" ?
Question:
Well,I counted about sixty scents in my wardrobe (normally,I hesitate to mention this number outtside BN ) and I found that just three of them are testers: -Casran (I bought a 125 ml bottle online for cheap), -Givenchy Pi EDP (I could not find a retail box of it at that time), -Gucci Rush (I wait for it to arrive by mail,to be precise,it is hard to find it now, prices are going up and I like woody fragrances, like Tumulte by Christian Lacroix). So,the percentage is about 5%. What's your's? Answer: Since Creedirect, my percentage of testers has increased considerably. For brands like Creed, which I like fairly well but never enough to pay even half the retail price, testers are the way to go. But, aside from Creed, I think that 99% of the rest of my collection are in original packaging. For Creed, probably 90% are testers and the rest are decants. In general, though, packaging doesn't bother me and if a tester is available and cheaper, I'd just rather get that. I'm interested in the juice, so having a top or a box really doesn't mean that much to me. Unfortunately, the vast majority of bottles I want don't have easily found testers, which is why most of mine are in the retail packaging (I mean, I'd much rather have a cheaper tester of a Lutens or many L'artisans, simply because I don't just LOVE them, but it's quite hard to find testers of them). Some people are perfume purists, but really, unless it is just one of my personal favorites, I can live without the glitzy packaging. Sometimes, the glitzy packaging is downright annoying (Bond bottles are beautiful to look at but impossible to use for travel and always fall over on my shelf with the slightest movement; likewise the MPG bottles and especially caps like to fall apart. Personally, I'd rather just have a plain bottle and be done with it; that's one thing I like about Malle or Helmut Lang... the packaging is so simple and easy to handle.) Answer: I have no qualms with getting testers off the net. I think I have about 6-7 frags that are "testers." Answer: For me, I'm more on the picky side. I'm not fond of testers and I enjoy having at least a cap. Thought, there might be times where a scent might be hard to obtain so I might have to settle with a tester. On the most part I dislike them and don't have any. When I buy a scent, I like to enjoy the entire experience from the box design, cap and everything it comes with it. I also dislike those tester stickers. You can peel them off at times but on the most part, a lot of them are engraved on the bottle. Answer: Nearly all of my niche fragrances are testers, except for L'Artisan Dzing!, which I won on Ebay for $50. I bought Bond no. 9 New Haarlem on Ebay for $55. Theres no way in hell would I pay full retail for Creed, Bond, MPG or other niche houses - I dont mind paying Scentiment.com prices for Creed though, especially because the juice is so good and $155 for 8.4oz flacons is fantastic. But I wouldnt want to pay more than $55 for anything by MPG, L'Artisan or Serge Lutens. Answer: I would guess 6-8 testers in my collection. That would be about 2.5% of my entire wardrobe. Some of these were given to me by a friend who is an SA and occasionally retires testers from store displays. The rest are frags I have picked up at specialty shops which have some hard-to-find items, but only in the form of testers. If I want the item badly enough, I will get the tester. I have nothing against saving money, but I don't shop online much because I can find almost anything I want locally. The juice is the same, I know, but it's nice to have the cap and not have "Vente interdite" emblazoned on the bottle. Answer: I don't have any testers that have "tester" stickers on them, they just came in plain cardboard boxes that indicated they were testers. Also, a lot of the testers I have don't come with caps anyway (ex. Bvlgari Black, TM Cologne, CK one). Answer: I have over 200 fragrances....I have 2 testers that were givin to me.....a very smell %......Gary Answer: I have NO testers...god I feel so left out... Answer: 3 out of 70.
