Rose Poivree
Question:
I got a sample of this last Fri along with two other rose frag samples. It's true...this stuff is smutty! I like it, but I don't think I would get it right now. Maybe this fall. What does "poivree" mean, anyway? I've looked on online French to English dictionaries and could'nt find a deffinition. Oh...I just dropped an "e" and checked again. It means "pepper", "peppery" or "spicey". The name does suit it! It's been a vicious weekend. I don't want to see anymore green tinted beer for the rest of my life! S Answer: Yes, rose poivrée means peppered rose. An amazing scent, by the way ... Answer: I have a sample of Rose Poivre but cannot wear it outside the house. I think the pepper outbalances the rose too much. I will give it another try because I know I change my mind about fragrances in different circumstances, but today I'm wearing Parfum Sacre which is a more succesful combination of peppery rose (amongst other notes) to my nose. Perhaps I'm just in need of a more sensual version of it. Rose Poivre is certainly striking but lacks the sensuousness, or even the spirituality, I'm after from rose. In a more determined mood I might choose Rose Poivre. I think I'll set myself the wearing of it this week. Answer: I also got a sample of Rose Poivree as my first encounter with this scent also. However, when I bought a larger decant from a Basenoter I found the scent 'came alive' even more from a full wearing. The sample really does not do justice to this scent. The black pepper note that comes thru about an hour into wearing it is the truest black pepper note I've ever smelled in a fragrance. It literally smells like crushed black pepper (like perhaps a Demeter fragrance might smell), but coupled with the wet, dirty rose scent - it's quite splendid. Can't say enough about this scent - everyone should give it a try. It literally changed the way I approach rose scents. Answer: I owned a bottle of this a year ago. I was well on my way through the bottle, when I ended a relationship. I wore this scent alot during that time and unfortunately cannot wear it due to the scent association with that situation. Great scent though and luckily I have found Black Aoud and Rose 31 to quench my Rose desire. That settles it then, I'll wear this tomorrow, but from my sample only as it is all I have. I'll persevere throughout the day and see how it changes on me. I can totally relate to your desire to not wear a scent anymore, due to it's scent associations (CANNOT wear MUST by Cartier...my friend who died recently of cancer wore it...) Also, am looking forward to sniffing Labo's Rose 31 - for now, I have a BRAND NEW rose scent for me, L'Artisans Voleur de Roses, coming in next week. Yay!!!! Answer: I tried Rose Poivre once more this evening. I used a base of Weleda Wild Body Oil as recommended on the women's threads, and put Rose Poivre on top. I smelled like a rotting fish. After an hour the RP had almost disappeared to nothing but an unpleasant fishy odour lingered somewhere in the distance. After two hours I scrubbed it all away and have applied Caron's Farnesiana instead. I'll give RP one more try with no base at all, just my skin. I'll see if I have the nerve to wear it tomorrow. Answer: Hmm...have not layered RP with any other scent myself (too scared to mess up the wonderful smell of it). Yes, please tell us what you think about it, un-layered. Answer: I'm in Rose Poivre once more, this time with no oil or any other base, just skin. I have worn it for the last hour and it has softened since I first applied it when it was sharp and fishy on my skin, and any rose note was obliterated. Today I will be patient and let it develop. I'll report back later. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
