Without going into the details of age - let's just say I fall into the category mentioned - I would say that one's appreciation of fine scents only increases over time. I have probably 200-300 scents (including all those little sample vials) and rarely, if ever, wear the same scent two days in a row. I tend to like musky scents such as Luten's Muscs Koublai Khan, or oriental variations on patchouli and sandalwood. I just purchased Anvers 2, and love it. In the summer I like lighter fragrances, for the most part, and gravitate towards the citrus types. I particulary like Creed's Cypres Musc and Selection Verte, both very different from other Creeds. Also, Bois de Cedrat is extremely pleasant in the hotter months. Answer: The first day of work, I learned from my first boss to wear a tie, check the cheques against the bank statement and avoid cologne so for more than twenty years I used Guerlain’s Cologne Imperial only until Hermès came along with the original that they renamed later Eau d’orange verte. I enjoyed testing and giving fragrance as gifts to brothers and friends though, Guerlain’s Vetiver, Habit Rouge, Derby, Gucci Nobile, Aramis Havana Reserva, Hermès Equipage, Bel Ami. I like sweet strong fragrances. YSL Opium pour Homme EDP, Caron’s Third Man, Boucheron Jaipur EDP, Cartier’s Santos Concentree, Hermès Rocabar and Michael (Kors) are my current favourites. Answer: Lord's willing, I'll be 68 in July. My wardrobe is 'all over the place' and so are my favorites; ranging fro YSL's Opium EDP to MPG's Bahiana and from the lowly Ignition to Malle's Musc Ravageur. I'm in my 47th. No special kind of beloved scents. Now my No 1. is GIT, but I try from day to day lots of samples from Miller Harris Tangerine Vert to Armani Code, Geir, Polo Black, L'Eau d'Artisan. There are good sweet, good oriental, good green scents I love. Perhaps what I dislike is the genre of heavy, 'pressing' scents like Amen, Gaultier La Male, Rive Gauche, but this 'feature' hasn't changed during the years in the realm of scents. Man, don't count your years, just enjoy your life One of my old relatives unfortunately lives in a nursery home, the smell of those homes is not pleasant at all. Some years still, and it will be our duty to make them good-smelling Be prepared for the challenge! And yes, Aquatonic is quite a nice scent. Answer: I'm also in the aforementioned age neighborhood and I, too, have several hundred scents (2/3 bottles and decants and 1/3 samples). I wear everything at least once and, remarkably, am repulsed by very little. That's part of my problem, I find most scents pretty decent smelling, and a long period of testing is required to separate out the truly bottle worthy frags. That said, I definitely seem to gravitate toward the chypre scents; I like oakmoss and woods a little more than lavender. I also like spices quite a bit, and scents like Equipage, Le 3e Homme de Caron, and Chanel Pour Monsieur are just about perfect in exemplifying what I like best. Jeff Answer: I am in the early 50s school, and my current favs are: Winter: Knize Ten Chevalier D'Orsay by D'Orsay Antico Caruso by Profumum Heritage by Guerlain Summer: L'homme de coeur by Divine Arlington by D.R. Harris Rose 31 by Le Labo Traditional Blue by Hugh Parsons Lorenzo Villoresi Uomo is what I mght call my signature, without regard to season. I have about 15 fragrances in current rotation. I am glad this thread came up, I was beginning to wonder whether I was in the wrong place, and that this was a site for the 17-24 year old group. Old Guys Rule, Joe Answer: I definitely don't fall into that age group (I'm 24), but I'd like to chime in that Aquatonic seems to be underrated; it is a fantastic green scent.
