Hermes Elixir Des Merveilles
Question:
I bought my girlfriend a 50ml bottle of the EdP, but she just didn't like it all, and I ended up (as requested) getting her a bottle of Chanel No. 19 instead. The thing is that I now have a bottle of the above, which I can't return to the shop, as it's no longer sealed. I really love the fragrance, so want to know what you think about this one being used by men? It's different to my usual faves: Polo 1978 for Autumn/Winter and Acqua Di Parma for when the sun shines, but it might be a nice change...? Opinions, if you please! Answer: I fell in LOVE with Elixir des Merveilles from the very first time I sampled it (I remember clearly sniffing my hand all day...) I wear it & I have posted many times on BaseNotes about it - it's one of my Top 10 fragrances. I like most of the perfumer's (Jean Claude Ellena) scents, so clearly I'm biased towards it, but I have never smelled anything like it (except for Eau des Merveilles...of course). I am entirely secure with myself in wearing fragrances marketed to women, so it was easier for me to like it immediately! I really like the 'chocolate covered candied orange peel' note that opens the fragrance - and then when it dries down and you get the 'salt water' note (from Eau des Merveilles) it's a nice transition. Great longevity too (whenever I take my shirt off at the end of the day, after wearing this, I pick up the scent). I can't say enough about this...blah, blah, blah - so I'll shut up now. Answer: or! store it in the box in a nice cool dark place and try it on your next girlfriend. Do not ask me for complete logistics since it's hard typing with one hand. I lost the other to my better half trying stuff like this myself. Answer: i would wear it... when i first smelled it it felt like a feminine version of TdH...
