Paris Advice Needed - Page 2
Question:
My map served me well (it also smells great).
The house stores are a great experience. Take some comfortable shoes, my girlfriend thought that she had developed trench foot and shin splints by the time we were through (she insisted on wearing those ballet type pumps) I was well armed with Clarks original wallabees = substance won the day over style!!
The "mainstream" stores are also well worth a visit. I thought http://www.galerieslafayette.com/mag...onal_customers
was great. Every niche and designer house under one roof. Plentiful testers, charming staff and a very nice atmosphere. Another tip: the CDG staff, probably in line with the avant garde nature of the brand, can be a little tardy with their timekeeping. I have yet to see the store open and close on time!!
If you want some tips for finding hard to find lines, let me know and I will unleash my other guide.

I see from your profile that you are interested in fashion. The Musee de la Mode et du Costume is down the street from Creed at #10 Pierre 1ere--could be a good double hitter. Go to Creed first, sample like mad and then as you go through the museum you could smell what each era of clothing would have smelled like--Creed is one of the few existing houses (Guerlain being the other) that could take you on a two hundred year olfactory tour. thanks

Answer:
Les Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido is simply a must-do : remember to ask to visit the top floor (if you ask to see the make-up line, they will automatically take you upstairs so that might be a good idea.)
One of the two Caron boutiques (my favourite one being that in rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré) you mustn't pass out either.
Having done that, a trip to Parfums de Nicolaï, Les Parfums de Rosine and The Different Company (all just steps away from the Serge Lutens shop) might be worthwhile.
If you are thinking of going to an Annick Goutal shop, try and go to the one on place Saint Sulpice, which is clearly the nicest and cosiest one.
At Colette you should find most of the hard-to-get stuff (Comme des Garçons, Le Labo, Ineke, Juliette Has A Gun...)
And my personal favourite Malle boutique is that in rue de Grenelle: I wish my flat looked like that !!!
Finally, if you are into English fragrances, you must pay a visit to Old England (in boulevard des Capucines), where you will find complete ranges of Miller Harris, Floris, Penhaligon's etc.
Have fun ! (if you need addresses and recommandations, feel free to pm me.)
PS: I forgot to tell you you MUST go to the Chanel boutique in rue Cambon and smell the old and new fragrances in the exclusive range...

Answer:
Chanel Rue Cambon, I'm there!

By all means skip the places where they sell stuff you can get at home. By no means miss:
D'Orsay near Luxenbourg Gardens, and
Detaille, not sure where they are but check their site: www.detaille.fr

Joe By all means, Joe, I agree. What's the point of getting a sample of what I can get in the US?
YOU WOKE ME UP!

Answer:
I'd check out Montale at the Place Vendome. Across the street at Rue de Capucines is Maison Parfumer et Garnier.
