Paris Advice Needed
Question:
I will be in Paris next weekend. I plan to visit the Serge Lutens Palais Royale, Guerlain and Caron shops. What others are essential? Also, are they open on Sundays? Answer: Originally Posted by Ruggles I will be in Paris next weekend. I plan to visit the Serge Lutens Palais Royale, Guerlain and Caron shops. What others are essential? Also, are they open on Sundays? Sunday can be erratic. Some are open some ain't. From memory, last October, Guerlain (main store) sephora, Goutal. I will check my diary to find out for sure. I will attach a map, I made ) that I used to get around when there, it shows the main, for me anyway, place of interest, smells wise. Not listed is this place: http://www.galerieslafayette.com/mag...onal_customers Which I though was a great place to visit. Link to my master piece of a map : May I offer a few tips: In the main Marionnaud, on the Champs..., they use a Tuscany forte as a tester for the regular Tuscany, "there is no difference" so they say!!, I tried to buy this tester from them, they would not wilt even after I mentioned how great french cars are. See if you have better luck Every store I visited, except one, was very generous in both advice and samples. Especially when you mention how interested you are in colognes, in general. The staff seemed pleased to meet a person who showed knowledge (to a degree ) and interest Do not try to walk to the Arc De Triomphe, across the roundabout, use the underpass, DO take amusing videos to show your friends of people trying to cross the roundabout on foot, once you are safely there. Thank you so much. I know the Arc de Triomphe roundabout - Run For Your Life! I'm staying in the 1st, so I will get to most of the places listed straight away. Answer: comme des garcons.... though i haven't been to paris... any more suggestions? i am going to paris in april... Answer: You might also want to visit the Creed Shop--if you are a fan. Answer: Originally Posted by Oviatt You might also want to visit the Creed Shop--if you are a fan. ha i am a creed virgin....though i do want to see what the hype is with creeds.... Answer: It is at 38, Avenue Pierre 1ere de Serbie in the 16th Arrondisement Métro Iéna or Alma Marceau. Bon chance! -------------------------------------- I see from your profile that you are interested in fashion. The Musee de la Mode et du Costume is down the street from Creed at #10 Pierre 1ere--could be a good double hitter. Go to Creed first, sample like mad and then as you go through the museum you could smell what each era of clothing would have smelled like--Creed is one of the few existing houses (Guerlain being the other) that could take you on a two hundred year olfactory tour. Answer: I would definitely want to visit: Creed (who knows what other private collection scents they might be hiding? Maybe you can get some exclusive info on the upcoming 3-fragrance collection. Last year, a BN'er got some exclusive info on the new scent Virgin Island Water and got to try it a full year before its official release!) Frederic Malle (I want to check out those "scent columns" - perhaps you can ask about the rumoured new scent ?) Hermes (not a big fan of their scents but the boutique looks so snazzy!) Serge Lutens (have you seens the pics of their boutique?? Weird ..makes me curious about that den) Caron ( the perfume fountains look fabulous! ) Answer: Originally Posted by zztopp I would definitely want to visit: Creed (who knows what other private collection scents they might be hiding? Serge Lutens (have you seens the pics of their boutique?? Weird ..makes me curious about that den) Caron ( the perfume fountains look fabulous! ) Serge Lutens and Guerlain are my main destinations. For some reason the last time I went to Paris I looked inside the Lutens window but didn't go in. I must have been too jet lagged. The Palais Royale park and arcaded shops are amazingly beautiful. The Hermes Boutique is no big shakes, unless you're Oprah Winfrey and looking for a fight. Frederic Malle looks more sleek and modern than the others, I will make sure to get there, too. Creed is not my favorite house, so perhaps. Thanks for your info. Answer: Christine (aka the PerfumeBee blogger) did a wonderful job documenting her visits to Paris perfume destinations in a series of recent blog entries. Check her January archives for maybe a dozen posts covering different shops here. Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
