RIVE GAUCHE.. Your views please..
Question:
I tested RIVE GAUCHE POUR HOMME yesterday and today im hoping to buy myself some..
I considered it very seductive...
Sexy..
and ideal at night
Does anyone agree? Love to know what you think!!!
I also own M7.. Do i need both?
Thanks

Answer:
Rive Gauche does seem to garner many compliments for a frag which is not overtly clean/fresh/aquatic like most out there. There are several threads on its compliment power. It's sexy in a retro way. Perhaps its vague similarity to Brut results in a female Oedipus like complex, you know, girls liking it because it reminds them of their dad and sick stuff like that. Anyway, I like it a lot.
And, yes, of course you need both!....(they are nothing alike, and both great additions to a wardrobe)

Thanks I was also going to buy Rive Gauche once. In fact I always cosidered it to be a daytime scent, since it's quite fresh and has some sort of old-school aftershave feel to it.
It is definitely a top-class fragrance.

Answer:
I don't care for Rive Gauche PH. It smells just like Barbasol shaving cream. Originally Posted by deck89 I tested RIVE GAUCHE POUR HOMME yesterday and today im hoping to buy myself some..

it does smell a bit retro, nevertheless the fragrance is of great quality!
give it another try probably - it definitely has some depth!

Answer:
RG does have that retro-barbershop thing going, but it does it in a modern way. I always think of it as a daytime scent - clean, masculine, and indeed, old-school but in a way that doesn't connote "geezer." I think of it as a scent that both you and your father could wear.
As far as "needing" M7 as well...I'm a convert to M7 after being unable to wear it initially. It's a very different sort of masculine scent, and in my book, definitely an evening scent.

Answer:
I can't stand rive gauche. Its wayyy too powdery for me and it's so unique that it's awkward. A few months ago I was at Disneyland watching the "Blues Brothers" perform and someone behind me had this on, and it was windy so It was very distinct. Ugh, never again.

I absolutely love this one...to me it has the best longevity that i have experienced with any scent....easily 12 hrs plus.....12 hours after application i still get whiff of it...my dad wears it and when he returns from work i can still smell him from a few feet....fantastic stuff.....i am a die hard YSL fan is why my tilt towards this may be biased however it indeed is a very fine fragrance...

gupts

Answer:
UK Basenoters may wish to compare it to Palmolive shaving gel.
I'm still a fan though.
