99 Regent Street - Page 2
Question:
I have tried Traditional (Blue). I actually own it. It is a citrus/floral/amber scent, that maybe gives a nod to Millesime Imperial just a bit. It has a really clean but deep smell. Has the feeling a bit of maybe a Creed fragrance to me, even in the ambery drydown. It is appropriate all year and has very respectable longevity. Answer: I own both Traditional (blue) and 99 Regent Street. Both are classy British fragrences but don't come off as studgy. Traditional is the lighter of the 2 and among the great citrus and ambery drydown, there's a great cardamom note. I like 99 Regent Street better of the 2. And as Jock_With_Scents said, they both have a Creed feel without coming off like a rip off (Unforgivable). Answer: Taditional Blue is a fantastic scent that will not blow your socks off upon initial application. At first is dry and citrusy and pretty nice. What makes this fragrances truly awesome is the evolution and the drydown, during which it develops into almost a completely different fragrance. It becomes a very comforting ambery fragrance that is still very masculine, but just very different from where it came from. That's what I love about it. It is at least two, if not more, fragrances for the price of one. I really haven't tried 99 Regent St. yet, because I am still coming to a full appreciation of Traditional Blue. It is unique among great English fragrances for its evolution. You can get 99 Regent St. at Barneys, but that is the only Hugh Parsons's fragrance they sell. Joe Answer: This line sounds outstanding. Looks like I'll add Nordstrom to my list of stores for the weekend testing binge. Answer: Gee, I wrote my message, and saw that others had already said the same. The moral of the story? Read the whole thread before you reply, JaimeB! Answer: Nice to hear about this line. I posted about trying to keep within the scents that I like. You guys made some good suggestions. Traditional and 99 came up for colognes I should try. I asked the Macys people about this line and they looked at me like I was crazy,...never heard of it and directed me to Nordstrom. Those of you that have this line let me ask you.....I like Nautica Voyage, and Selection by BOSS, the old school yet awesome smell of Drakkar. The very faint not overpowering clean, light woodsy no Tobacco smelling scents. If it dries light and airy, thats for me. Is Hugh Parsons the ones for me?? I dont know about M7? Is that heavy and over bearing? I want to swatch/spritz Terre D' Hermes, Herrera, Vetiver, Geir, and Boss #6????? Any of these I should not even bother with? I wish I knew about basenotes and ingredients. lol I know I do not like Joop!, Gautier, Musks, Boucheron's, Farenheit..etc.etc. So in keeping in topic with this post I hope Parsons comes through. The Squire. I can't actually answer your question, although I am a Parsons fan. If you can get to Barneys you will find 99 Regent St. Try it, give it two good hits not too close to the skin then sniff, make no immediate judgements, at least negative ones. Then wait half an hour and give it another sniff, and then decide whether or not you get what this stuff is all about. When I first tried Blue I was disappointed. I thought it was OK, but nothing great and maybe too light and too subtle. But it took awhile to understand that this is a great evolving fragrance (thanks to Dr. Creed who set me straight before I sold it!). Parons is light, sophisticated, not really sweet and yet intriguing. Joe Answer: Much Thanks Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
